Well I've got an er6 '06. Never ridden a versys. Any major differences other than economy and better low/mid range torque. Would be interesting to hear from anyone whose ridden both.

(er6 looks better though obviously, goes without saying ;-))

Yep... One part adventure (appearance only), one part motard a slathering of road bike and a good amount of stylising (if you can bear the front end). It seems to have an identity crisis. Probably ideal for brawling with city traffic on the daily commute.
The DL650 is probably closer to the "perfect" bike (imperfect in itself) because it can actually take on a bit of everything. That is one of the reasons why it has such a strong following.

That just screams of poor design to me. Didn't rubber mounted, unbalanced engines and flexy frames go out of fashion about the same time as the "upright, naked" look you are so quick to deride :smt044

I'm a lucky boy, still have my SV Curvey but also a Versys. Still being quite inexperienced I can't get the best out of either so I won't opine too much about ability but for me the Versys does everything the SV does but in greater comfort.

Looks are a matter of opinion and I like the quirkiness but then I don't like Pointy SV's but love the Curvey. All I'd change about the Verysys is to put an SV engine in it, I love the V-Twin but think the parallel sounds guff.

i nearly bought one, test ride was good, but gearbox not as positive as suzuki

in the end depreciation and a few other factors made me think about buying a cheaper 2nd hand bike.

once the versys has a few more years under it's belt i'll have one, maybe

Mark, oh I forgot that you are never wrong are you? I'm not talking about track day loony's, i'm talking about your average joe who buys a motorbike and rides it on the road. I was out with a bunch of guys on Z750's, Aprilia Tuono's, MT01, MV Brutale & an RSV on Thursday and not once was I found "hanging behind" up to around 90mph. None of them were hanging about and the roads we were using were twisty b roads.

you are right, I'm seldom wrong.....;), and the ER6F is actually faster than the versys, and the 6F is actually slower than an SV, so given the same talent on the seat, you're saying the versys (and by that reasoning the SV) is as good as a Brutale,RSV, Tuono,MT01 and Z750,or perhaps you're some god like rider who can negate the 60bhp(750 Brutale)/ 71bhp(05 RSV)/46 bhp(2003 Touno) and 23bhp (2003 z750) have over the Versys?, of course the better quality suspension of the Versys.....no wait that's wrong.....:D, or were they perhaps just not wanting to leave you behind :smt102

Everyone has they're own preferences when it comes to bikes, no bike is truly the best, I've always preferred an all rounder and my versys does everything I want it too, and has power i'm comfortable with... plus its comfy :D

but i'd never call it the perfect bike, just like my sv, cbr600rr, speed triple weren't
