Re: Angel eye HID install

I've been busy making up trial brackets. Started with cardboard and I'm now using 1mm steel. I've bought some 3mm aluminium for the final design

I've been trying to get the lights as close to the forks as possible. And trying to get the bracket looking good too. I think I've just about got it. Just need to tidy up the part that bolts to the frame slightly and maybe round a few of the corners off, then I'll start on the aluminium ones.

Some of the failed designs.

I bolted them to the latest bracket I made today. Obviously it will have a bracket at each side when it's finished

Still to do...
mount the ballasts under the tank
shorten and rewire the control wiring because it's designed for a car
spray the light plastics
seal the hid's
get the rear covers for the plastics
wire up the 6 core flex for each light

Looking good.

Does look good sir! I personally think the bottom light is a few cm too far out though but I guess that's personal preference. I'm pleased you went with vertical :)

I know what you mean. Still not decided about that. At the moment both lights are the same distance from the forks but the bottom one looks further out because there's nothing behind it

Just been looking at it and I'm gonna try taking the bracket straight down for the bottom light. Should be ok for clearance, just might need to get a P clip to keep the left brake line in position cos there wont be much room behind the bracket on full left lock

Possibly a daft question and off topic, but what are you doing about indicators?

I'm inclined to say rather than moving the bottom light back, to move the top one forward - it looks to me like there is a parallel line to the forks running off the clocks and through the front upper corners as we're looking at it.

I see what you mean about the line but I really want them as close in to the forks as possible. Bringing the bottom one back will bring them in line with the clocks, although they wont be parallel with the forks any more. But bringing the top one forward would mean they weren't parallel anyway.

Haven't decided about the indicators yet. See the hole on the radiator bracket, I've been looking at mounting them using that hole and the bolt on the left side, but it means the indicator would be sitting over the filler cap. I could make a small bracket to bring them behind the cap.
Or I might get away with some short indicators on the headlight bracket. Still thinking.... :)

As you are considering straightening the lower part of the bracket i would do the same for the top. This would keep the lights parallel with the forks but give a much 'tighter' finish.
Looks like the top one would just squeeze in!

As for the indies on the rad, a 'Z' shaped bracket on the top side bolt would put the indies slightly behind the rad thus hiding the wires behind the rad going up/under the frame.

Superb handy work there, so good in fact when you have finished i have a couple of indie brackets need making, will send my bike up to you for a couple of weeks :p
