I like cats, I'm sorry your dog has had a bad life before you but I'd rather hate anyone who abused an animal than a creature who is following it's natural instincts.

People mentioned crossbows & air rifles and using them on animals, that doesn't seem too nice to me

No, its not, and frankly if I kicked them in the head then asked them if it hurt, after I'd taped their gob shut, then they might have an understanding how an animal feels when its having a vet remove pellets from its body:smt019

No it's not but they are only hypothetical threats, made by folk behind keyboards on an internet forum so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it :)

Oh I know but if I'm being complained about for criticising a dog being attacked by a cat then I may as well bring it up, otherwise none of us will write anything for fear of offending someone.

I like all animals, apart from earwigs. I know the cats are following an instinct. Just wish they wouldn't as I like the little birds.

I bloody hate earwigs. They make me stand on a chair and scream like a big girl.

If you've got tree rats destroying your bird feeders and crows ripping your roofing felt up you're perfectly correct to shoot them with an air rifle.

I've done it, and done it humanely. I've also done for plenty rabbits and woodpidgeons that have ended up in my belly :)

I haven't nailed any cats to the fence with a crossbow yet, though I reckon they're just as much a pest leaving their stinking turds about the place. And I reckon a crossbow would be a decent and humane way to do it. (Any non-FAC, i.e sub 12ft lb air rifle is NOT going to get a humane kill on a cat, so shooting cats with an air rifle is bang out of order.)
The inevitable whinging about it and probable court appearance would be a right inconvenience though.

What I reckon I need is some (humane, ish) way to trap any cats passing through. Then if they are wearing an ID tag I will put them in a sack and nail it to the owners front door.
If not I'll sell the little moggy b*stards to the curryhouse.

If I owned a 150lb rottweiler and I let it savage stuff in peoples gardens, they would quite rightly play f*** about it. Don't see why cats should be excused to do the exact same thing.

In the news today, the starling population is right down apparently you used to be able to count 15 a day in the garden and now it's 3 on average, must be some fat cat's about, I'm waiting for it...
