Tea bag or cup brewed loose, milk goes after. I like strong tea so the it brews long enough to take the edge of the temperature and not scald the milk... Scalded milk (or "cooked" tea) I do not like.
Pot brewed (coffee plunger!)... it's done right... milk first. |

The best way is the way you do it now, because that's the way you like.
I pre-lactate my tea so I can judge that it's got strong enough. Definitely not to everyone's approval, but that's the way, ah ha, ah ha, I like it... bet that songs' in your head now! |

I went off tea after having a general anaesthetic 6 years ago. For about 5 years I just couldn't stand the taste or even the smell of it. Apparently an aversion to a food or drink after surgery isn't that unusual. Now I occasionally drink decaf Tesco Finest Earl Grey. Without sugar and quite weak, milk after. Whereas before I drank Barry's Irish Gold Blend, strong with sugar milk before.

You can visit other countries, learn about them, and still there's so many common everyday things you don't have a clue about. :smt101
I've had tea in the UK and yes, it was good. Really good. I have no idea if the milk was before or after, or if there was any milk in it at all???? :oops: Quite interesting the differences in opinion here. Is that regional ? Or more of a personal preference? In the US it's sugar vs. no sugar and tea is served in a glass not a cup, and usually on ice. As you might expect in America, the more you drink the better they like it. So if you're in the south, have that second glass and compliment your host on it and Bob's your uncle. In the southern US we drink 'sweet tea' also known as 'ice tea' in some areas. If you don't want sugar you ask for 'unsweetend tea' but expect some strange looks the futher south you get. Tea ingrediants have to be added at the right time or your sweet tea could become cloudy. Cloudy tea is bad and should be poured out as it has a bitter taste and can not be fixed once it becomes cloudy. The only place to get hot tea in the US is usually a Chinese restaurant. :rolleyes: |
