listening to some records my mum and dad bought (Gene Pitney at moment) remembering the new year parties with the house full of friends and family :-)



cheese, pickle and ham cocktail sticks, salmon sarnies, crisps, sausage rolls etc.etc and getting pizzed at 8+ :-)

I have my mum & dad's old records, and three that still get played are 'Portrait of Joan Baez,' Roy Orbison's 'In Dreams' album and an Everly Brothers lp.

All are mono, the vinyl is about 300g ;) and despite the YEARS of abuse from crappy, blunt old stylii, they still play well and the production (such as it was in those 4-track studio, mono mastering days) is still amazing. Sometimes I think the move to stereo was a bad idea :)

And now I want some cheese & pickled onion cocktail sticks, and a slice of pork pie with Branston :D
