Having looked across the Shoei range, I believe they're the best on the market, and if your noggin fits them, then that's what you should aim for.

In my opinion that is  but of course I'm biased!

Must say i disagree with that one. Arai are by far the best about even though they are expensive..................and ive got an AGV! :?

Well, I had a look at a few in the shop, and aside from not fitting, which is fair enough, I was amazed at the pathetic catches and vents.

The mechanism for locking the visor is just asking to break, very flimsy, and basically as far as I could tell, it didn't work - the fitting was so bad!

The vents were light cheap plastic, poorly secured with the helmet itself - after a few months of filling up with flies and road crap, I'm sure that they'd eventually break as your had to force them open and closed.

I wouldn't spend over £200 on a lid, I just don't see the point.

A £400 lid isn't twice as good as a £200 lid so why spend the extra ?

I think with the expensive brands you're just paying for the name and some fancy graphics and subsidising their sponsorship/advertising budget.

Just my opinion.

Clunk, I can see that from the picture of your crash helmet in your Avatar!

You rarely getting something twice as good for double the money, small improvements cost. I paid £300 for an Arai Quantum F 18 months ago and whilst the side pods did ping off a couple of times when removing the visor, that was more down to me than the lid. I can change the visor in a few seconds now with no pinging at all! It's also really comfortable and well vented. I love the look of the Roof Daytona but I found the material inside is rough and poorer quality compared with the Arai. Not crash tested it yet though - and not planning to either, but sure it will hold up well if it needs to!

I HAVE crash tested an Arai Quantum F and can say that it does indeed do what it says on the tin. (OK what it says on the website then)

Got one of these, they look mint and are a great helmet, but pricey.

I've got an orginal (non BS approved) simpson bandit - as in the pic. Its Comfy and feels safe and secure - all the US drag racers use them!! + it scares those nasty motorists when you look at them!!
