No, I got your point, and a perfectly valid one it was.
I suppose the discussion changed from saying supersport IL4s were less preferable to all IL4s are less preferable. The latter I disagree with.

Interesting article I thought, but didn't really tell us anything we didn't know did it? People, generally, like engines that have accessible, useable power, not exactly a revelation.

The precise reason I'm torn between the desire to ride my ZX6 and the SV1000, they both make about ~100ish BHP, but of course the SV has more linear torque, the reality is that both are good, notwithstanding Jonboy's feelings I think the desire only to ever own one particular engine configuration is rather prescriptive, there's a world of bikes out there.

What I am impressed with is the Yamaha only losing, a frankly irrelevant, 4 BHP off the top end, and if peak torque is shifted lower down the rev range, it has the potential to be more economical too.
