Hmmm my shovit experience.
My house is on a hill and drive is quite steep. As the shovit propshaft had developed a knocking UJ I decided to change it. Ihad to release the handbrake in order to slacken the cables to get the propshaft off/on. Whilst it was up on the axle stands I thought I might as well check the gearbox oil and as luck would have it, it required a top up.
Having established I had no oil in the garage I had to walk upto the local service station, so I locked up house/garage/car and walked to 300yd round trip to come back with a bottle of oil. I topped up the gearbox, fitted filler bolt, trolley jack at the back and removed axle stands, round to front and removed the front stands. As the trolley jack lowered the car then set off down the drive. like I said my drive is quite steep, and I had released the handbrake to clear the propshaft. Doh the car door is still locked and the keys are in the house. By this time I am behind the car trying to stop it rolling. No chance I dive out the way as it knocks down my gatepost, goes accross the road and through the hedge of the neighbour accross the road.
Remember I said I am on a hill. The car has now ground itself on the collapsed hedge about 10 ft above the nieghbours car. I knock on his door and explain that I have had a slight accident and he had better move his car incase the hedge collapses. He looks at me funny, comes out of his house, goes white, grabs his keys and gets his car out of the way. Well with him sat on my bonnet to counter balance me sat in the car, starts the engine, and drives out. The hedge sprung back and no damage. The only damage to my car being the offside rear light needed tightening up as there was now a bad earth. No panel damage anywhere.
Pheew. Another reason why I hated that damm car.
