I have carefully thought of everything else, but not once has the thought of what is in my back actually entered my head.

This morning I came in and in the bag was:

A DVD burner
A laptop
A digital camera

the list goes on........when I read this thread and thought about all that I turned white!

Thanks for potentially saving me from gaining an injury in this way!

What's the best option for stuff then - tank bag?

After coming across this thread, I went slightly green too. My bike is the only form of transport I own and quite regularly drive to various different workplaceswith a rucksak on, containing:

2 x drills
hammer
spanners
chisels
podger (foot long spiked spanner thing)
tape measure
square
various other tools, depending on the job

Also, I do tend to go to Sainsbury's about twice a month with an empty 100 litre rucksak and come back with it full.....

maybe another form of carriage is in order

Another thought provoking thread from the org ! Good point well made - pat on the back pack time

Ive never thought how dangerous landing on the pack might be, but i have thought that the pack might protect your back in a fall....will think more vcarefully about what to carry on my back in future... eg - often carry big bottles of soft drink as they dopnt fit in side pockets...landing on one of those would be pretty bad for starters... :o

Course you now have to consider alternative methods...the tankbags are too small to carry much stuff, panniers are a pain and would ruin the look of my new blue flame twin outlet can, and as for topboxes...well  :x says it all about that subject :( :(

Think you've answered it yourself with what you left out - Tailpack :D

Guys, I don't understand what the problem is. Use a rucksack. Just buy a bungy net or two. Then strap it to the back when you ride.

Cheaper and easier to carry when off the bike than a tailpack but with the same practicality. I always keep a bungy net under the seat as they are compact and bloody useful.

Does a bungy net a ttach to a pointy easily though - it doesn't have the bars of the curvy (oh and no grabrail)

On my GSXR it has some bungey points on the pillion pegs ? Is the pointy SV the same. Liz has taken the pillion pegs off her bike so I can't look at it to find out.

Yes you're completely right.
But this thread started with me wanting to take the pillion pegs off

Yup, the pointy SV has the hooks on the rear peg hangers the same as the GSXR1000 as well. The look like litte hooks pointing backwards act as guards for the passengers feet as well.

For anti scratch stuff, either use the rubber web from Oxford or get an anti slip mat from Morrisons supermarket for cheaper, looks like the same stuff to me. Just keep it clean and it won't scratch.
