I realised that I had a problem with authority in the 5th year at school.

Left school to become an engineer, hated it and my boss, and got into the restaurant trade where I again hated my boss. Got bored after 4 years and did my bike test in May '95 and became a courier in June '95. Have done it since with a few years as a pub manager in between!

Other people seem to have gained degrees but unable to find jobs in their chosen profession

I'm a para planner, (i like the sound better than the job lol) which is close to a financial advisor. £18,000 a year 8.30 to 5 or 5.30 if i have 1.5 hour lunch break. Get this bit, this is the best, no training jus picked bits up. Left school with 7 c's n a B.

Did a degree in early 90's in "Business Information Management". Or learning how to water the plants as all the other lecturers referred to it.

Yep. Left school and did a BTEC in science, then got a job in a lab after a year at Uni which I hated. Been working in labs ever since and got a BSc in biological science (studied part time). Am now a research assistant at Manchester Uni.
