Bikes:
1979 Harley Davidson XLH1000 Sportster (Just SOLD)
2001 Suzuki SV650 (soon to own)

Cars:
1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager Mini-van (first car, still running!)
1995 Saturn SC2 (runs like trash, just given to my sister for her 18th)

My cars dont' reflect my bikes AT ALL. The only thing that they all seem to share is large american engines (which is costing me a bundle in gas). I DO have the money to get a really nice car OR really nice bike but I don't think it's smart to spend a lot of money before I'm done with college. My father is the man with the cool toys:

MY FATHER:
2004 Harley Davidson 1200C Sportster
1999 Crown Victoria V8 (with the Police Interceptor Engine 280 hp)
2003 Mustang SVT Cobra (supercharged to 430 hp)

ONCE I'M OUT OF COLLEGE (ONLY ONE YEAR AWAY!):
2001 Suzuki SV650
2001-2003 Subaru Impreza WRX (STi if I am lucky)
2007 Honda Fit

IF I GOT A GREAT JOB RIGHT OUT OF SCHOOL:
Triumph Speed Triple
Triumph Sprint ST or BMW K1200 GT (or RT)
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX MR

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

An American complaining about paying a lot for petrol?

Try 8 dollars a US gallon sometime and then you'll understand!

Why shouldn't I complain? Only four years ago, gas used to cost us less than 1/2 of what it does now. You all still have it far worse than us, but most American's have to own a car just to get around (I think 60 miles is the average daily commute). I personally drive over 400 miles ever week. If I want to go visit my best friend in DC? It's 600 miles. It makes me laugh my ass off when someone from another country says, "Why don't you walk?" HA! Have you seen how our public transportation is set up?! Only our most cramped cities have decent public transit in the U.S.

I'm just angry that we got involved in some stupid war that isn't doing anything positive. I would have at least thought gas prices would go down... it's Iraq for Christ's sake- there is oil, I know it. I would ALMOST support the war if it made gas prices go down. I feel awful for Europe though, prices like that make me sick.

All true - but if you think public transport in the states is bad, try ours.

For the price of a return ticket first class from London to Manchester (about 250 miles) on the train, I could buy a flight from London to Rio de Janeiro!

If you live outside any of the major cities of the UK - public transport is a waste of time.

I commute 30 miles each way to work each day, which takes me over an hour on a good day in the car... If I wanted to use public transport, to be at work by 08:00 I'd have to leave my house at 05:30, magically transport myself 10 miles to the only place I can get transport from in order to reach the connections I need to make it to work in order to be there by 06:15, and then spend an hour and a half on buses, metro and bus again.

I hate Britain sometimes.

I wouldn't blame you. I can usually make my commute to school when I'm at my folks in 45 minutes or less. (10 miles of city and 28 country roads).

You need a autogyro, jetpack, or something.
