Dizzys done a lot of miles on the SV, the whining she's got aint normal. Sounds like its coming from the front head.

LOL. From the front end. You think its gear box related then. Well took my bike out on a long ole test ride to see what if anything would make it better. I'd say mines worst at about 3-4.5k revs. don't matter if engine is hot or cold. its kinda like the first gear whine when you pull away, only worse, if you know wat i mean. Must be loud if the full akra system doesn't over power it. Found a way round it. Drive at 30 in 2nd. sounds awesome. anything much faster engine and other noises quiten it down

as Chris says I've done a fair few miles on Suze, shes been in the family since new, and I've had her for three years, so I know the noises on my bike like the back of my hand. Im Indoors had her before me, and he's noticed it too, cause hes borrowed it a couple of times before the rebuild, so I know its not in my head. Like i said she does have a whistle on her( a bit like a canary bird) but I know that one, this is different, and its hasn't always been there, started a few months back when she were burning oil, but thats all right now any way.

Yes its sounds very similar, mine does it at that point, especially when in traffic,in first gear, gets louder and higher pitched as you go higher up the revs, then when you knock it into second and go back to around 4-5k revs it comes back to the original pitch. i can actually here it over my Art can when its present, and its flippin annoying me now

Hopefully Klodoma might come up with some ideas or things tried and tested. Annoying!!! Its completely F****** me off. Strange thing to was i saw a W plate 650s today in a 30mph zone and there was a definate whine coming from it.

I will post as soon as I have something. Unfortunatelly only friday (21.03) I will have time to look at it, hope the weather will be ok. After that I leave the country for 10 days.

Anyway I will try my best to understand how, why, what and where.

Write you back ASAP.

Could we be barking up the wrong tree? I notice the noise on accelerating more than anything else, anyone reckon it could be running gear related? Maybe wheel bearings or something? After all you stop accelerating when you pull the clutch in.
I'm clutching at straws now though!

wouldn't have thought wheel bearings as even with the clutch pulled in the wheels are still in full rotation
