Its what I do every night! But it doesnt stop me thinking....thats what the disappearing part is meant to do!

I feel like someone has punched me in the stomach and is trying to rip me up! Does everyone get this from time to time or do I need help?!?!?!?

I suffer from exactly the same. I over think some things instead of just getting on with life. I'm slowly trying to correct that - though some people seem to think it's fun to throw obstacles in the way.

Counselling would probably help my issues, but I've always been the type to sort my own head out so I don't see it as a viable option - nor do I like to talk to other people about some of the stuff going on. Mainly as I feel like I don't want to add my problems to theirs.

My solution, is little holidays away now & again - usually on the bike, and most of the time costing next to nothing staying over with someone I know & just hanging out.

That explain it a bit betteR?

Apologies for jumping in here as the seldom poster who nobody knows :)
But those last 2 lines explain your whole thing...
Its not anyone's fault that you feel pressured or exposed....it's how oyu react to other people that makes you feel that way.
You told your friend about some guy, adn in her "being a good mate and trying to get the details on the guy to keep you safe" kinda way she found out more than you wanted her to and you feel your personal space has been compromised. Thats not their fault, because they dont know how wide your personal space is.... they're just living their lives as they see fit but it doesnt fit in with your way.

What you could do, if you chose to, is start actually doing what oyu want without that voice in hte back of your head asking" what will so and so think/say/do" living your life as you see fit and honestly and deeply within yourself not bothering about what others think.

I really do know what you're talking about..becaue it rings so many bells for me, but the truth is, nobody cares about what you think about how they live, and you shouldnt care about their thoughts.

Thats a separate thing to "caring about others" which i reckon you do alot of, hence your "problem".... the gift is finding a way to care about others, without allowig that care for others work against you, and caring what others think about you.

Hmmm...probably a very relevant point of view....doesn't stop me from being like that though!!! Thats the annoying part. I know what half my problem is but i dont know how to fix it...

MBK, the more you post, the more you sound exactly like me. I know where my issues are, it's just about correcting the way I think.

I thought I'd cracked it a while back, but life threw yet another curve ball. :(

It just takes time & more patience than I have to get things sorted mentally.

:grouphug: As I said before, it'll happen, in time. I hope. :)

Lots of good advice already. I totally understand where you're coming from. Being a private person is comp-er-letely normal. I hope you sort out matters with your friend.
