Re: Bikes. What to do next?

I've been riding two years this month and I love my SV to bits, I could sell it and get an old GSXR750 SRAD and possibly make money out of the swap. Although if i was going to get a new bike I would like a newer GSXR, 06+ or maybe even a Fireblade. One my hang ups has to be the comfort factor at 6ft1 and 14st, currently I get achy after 3hrs, wouldn't want to shorten that too much, although I will end up with a supersports one day, I'll just man up then.

Honestly though, I just don't think I've got enough from the SV yet, it's not massively challenging to loose a friend of mine on his GSXR600 on the twists but I think that says more about his riding than mine, for obvious bike comparison reasons. I'm not a bad rider, reasonably smooth and consistent including pegs down a few times, never knees though.

Got a couple of track days booked this summer though to really see what I can do, first one at Oulton Park in two weeks, can't wait! Considering putting my old mashed up fairing on just in case.

Think his main issue would be the set of knees wedged against his chin.

I have never had comfort issues on my 600rr, its infinetely more comfortable than my pointy SV ever was. Its like an arm chair honestly.

My knees and elbows can touch but any small bike will be like that, you dont get much small than an SV though really.

You out an about this weekend Binkster? ;) you can have a quick bash on an IL4 :smt002

he means mine because i have a lowered/smaller/gel seat on my cbr (the normal one is under the stairs) as im a shorty, and whenever he has to move it/ride it for me his knees reach his elbows..but i digress from the OP

I'd love to take each and every one of your bikes out, honestly i would. I even just had an email from someone offering me a go on his K3 750. :-P

Maybe when i'm unrestricted i'll do what zombie did and test an 1198 against the GSXR 750. ;) You know..., just to test the water.

ATM i think maybe replacing the Sv with a 750 or similar and using it for both road and track seems like the most practical. :flower:

I'd be more concerned about the black frame, presuming it isn't black all the way through.

Bikes are for using at the end of the day chaps........if your going to sit worrying all the time instead of using it for what its built for, then whats the point in even having one at all.

I think your making the right choice for what its worth ;)

Thats what I did except I dont / havent done any track riding. I dont think you'll be disappointed if you go down that route.
