Had another look over the bike last night with a mate after work, spotted that the back tyre had lost total grip on the left side as I went down, attempted a photo to illustrate but quality was pants.

Wrote a letter to R&G yesterday via e-mail, and they said they will send me the replacement bar end, crash bung and cotton reel. Thanks mike (?i think) for that suggestion, they're going to use photos on their website.

Also removed the R&G crash bung, had done its job pretty well and full credit to them, I'd recommend them to everyone because of the damage its saved!

Glad to be of service mate , Dave from Fixer-Peg sent me that as a freebie because it had been anodised , those ones in that style are normally in bare Aluminium only . I had fitted a bare one to my bike . Was the Cap-head Allen bolt ok ?

PS . I didn`t want to call you "JamesTerror" on the jiffy bag so I wrote "James Lowsider" for a giggle and drew a picture of you scraping down the road screaming for help , hope it brought a smile to your face ;)

Friggin massive roundabout if you managed to get 35 going round it.

The Lichfield roundabout at the top of the A5, its huge! I was coming onto the dual carriage way then back tyre slipped.

Yeh I noticed the picture, did bring a smile and gave my dad a laugh when he got the post :p

The cap-head allen bolt was a bit too big and touching the metal bar connecting to the gear box , but we have an incredible amount of allen bolts with different head types so I found one that fit with no problem.

What type of clip is used to hold the gear lever on? As it just slides off because I destroyed the clip which is used to hold it on.

Yeah I thought the bolt I gave you would be too big . As far as I know the Gear Lever is held in place by the footpeg and is bolted into place from the back of the footplate with a big cap-headed Allen bolt

Mine looks nothing like that mate , my gear lever has a large diameter hole on the rear , which slides over a stub shaft on the footpeg and is secured in place from behind with a cap head bolt .

You will need something called a Circlip

Small idea here , and it`s a bodge , but with that not there , there will be a groove in the shaft , the circlip sits in this groove and the outer edge of the circlip keeps the lever in place . You could get some wire that will sit in the groove and bend it around the shaft with 2 tail-ends sticking out 180 degrees to each other . It would have to be very thin and stiff wire though . It will help keep it in place til you can get the proper Circlip from your local dealers .

Thats the one!

I've got a set of circlips, well my dad has and circlip pliers to apply it. Just need to find out the size as the digital ruler my dad had for it has no battery.

I presume there an E type or Eternal circlip, let me gander the manual.

Yes they are external , internal ones will have the tabs on the inside where the pliers insert into and are used to hold things in place usually inside a bore . I don`t have a battery on any of my measurement tools for this exact reason , I think you are using a Vernier Caliper . What you need to do is measure the Diameter of the groove that the clip sits into and the width . You want a circlip that is a smidge smaller than the diamter of that groove and one that will sit in the groove without being too tight or loose . When the clip is opened out and dropped into place it will pinch onto the shaft and allow the lever a freedom to move up and down . Too tight and it will hinder the levers return , too loose and it could wear against the lever during operation . Hope this makes sense to you James .
