Lesson learnt hey MBK!

At least now you have more time to get used to the idea of flying!

oh ok, well more fool you if it happens to you then, say an insurance company got one digit wrong etc, thats you un insured ,and getting pulled via ANPR and a fine etc , just because you could not be bothered to proof read the paperwork, i am sure that will wash with the police as your car in inpounded, sorry i should have not had to check:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The reason I wouldn't accept it is that they are heavily insured against things like this. It is not uncommon for companies to claim from their insurance and only pass on 10-20% to the actual customer, keeping the rest to cover "costs".
These companies are massive, it's a first offer and if it's accepted, they'll be laughing.

The only other thing I will say is that yes, you should always check your paperwork, but Nic did not have the paperwork until they were en route to the airport so it wouldn't have helped anyway and yes, as Ophic says, they are an agent, they have a duty of responsibility to ensure they book you the holiday and dates that you want.

That is a very good point and is something everyone should check tonight if they haven't done so already. MCE made such a massive mess up of Dans, he would have been uninsured if he'd gone out without reading the documents really thoroughly.

Good point well made Neil!

I think you should do your research before you make a comment like that.

This happens frequently and the people don't get booked. It's a common thing which is easily sorted and is why Police can still issue producers. At the end of the day, you are still insured, just that an error has been made in the paperwork.

ok well forgoing the pedantic technicalities, my point being you should not always assume a big company wont make mistakes , and to check to save yourself heart ache.

assume, makes an ass out of u and me, AKA the mother of all **** ups!!

My advice to most people most of the time is that assumption is a very foolish thing. Shame Nic didn't have the documents to check, shame the agent was a complete numpty and like I said, go check your insurance based on what Neio has said guys.

You might be alright with the police, but Dan got covered for taking a pillion and in the documents, it said no pillion coverage. The police are understanding of these mistakes, the insurance companies however will not be. If we'd gone out and had an off and I tried to claim of dans insurance, we'd have been up a certain creek without a paddle and I for one would be mad :smt027

I'm not saying you shouldn't check, but the liability for the mistake lies with the company in question, not the individual for not checking.

Car insurance and such things are a bit different as its a legal requirement to have, and as such, the responsibility lies with the driver to make sure he's insured.

.

In the same way the liability for raising any errors to the issuing company to correct those errors lies with the customer, by checking their documentation. be it holiday details , insurance etc.
