Yes but civil engineers think they can overcome nature.

E.g. I worked on this Our geological surveys said the mountains were moving. The civils said "Not a problem". Who was right?

Still adopt the Chinese mentality. A mountain in the way. blow it up and use it for infill elsewhere.

firstly, you worked on that..awesome!

So I take it you're a geologist? And I also take it the civils had the final say!!

Either way, I guess they all make mistakes. I'm sure some civils are better than others. Either way, some of the roads that flow through the alps are breathtaking...

and this even...

Tim has a book of log tables, I still have my slide rule. And I know how to use it:D

We are old farts:santa:

I know how to use a slide rule too, just like the idea of them though, I didn't actually need to use one, just learned for fun. :) Still used log tables at uni in some of my non calculator exams too.

I would question the sanity of anyone who'd make you use log tables when in practice anywhere you'd use a calculator or a computer!

All our non-calculator stuff is set up so if you do the question right it comes out as "simple" relationships.

Sane physicist- oxymoron there! Only ever used log tables for one exam, otherwise you are correct, generally a simple obvious answer comes out.
