If you were doing nothing wrong regarding your riding and it was just plain bad luck, then I wouldn't think twice about giving up riding. It's just one of those things. It wasn't an error in your judgement. Just plain unlucky. Don't sweat it, recover, get the bike fixed and get back out there.

Just wondering, anybody know if you can rebend handlebar back to how it should be. Having real trouble finding a cheap one online. Also if my handlebars are bent, could there be a chance that I have also twisted my forks?

thanks

i wouldent try and bend the bars back as they will possibly have a week point after and snap next time (touch wood it doent happen)

Link for bars, other companies do similar as well. Don't know how cheap you mean, try a breakers?

I'd have thought your forks would be fine, the yokes and forks are WAY more strong than a bit of tube, have a good look at them to be safe tho. If you're worried, maybe take it to a garage for an expert opinion. If the bar is only slightly bent and you're skint maybe bending it back would be OK, but they will be weakened.

nothing to do with how strong the forks/yoke's are the forks can twist very easily

losen the bottm yoke clamp (ones around fork tubes) and bound the font that should straighten them

renthal streetfighter bars cost me £38 inc delivery from bandit mania no idea if you want bars like that but they are well made and very strong i have a set with a tiny bend in them if you want them ? you can have the for the cost of postage ? might be better than what you have and tie you over for now

Take your bike to Spannerman, he and Bill are very good and have done some good work on my bike today and are very reasonable. It would seem a good idea to get it checked over.

Farings and lights ect are easy enough to take on and off yourself.

Couldn't you get hold of some funky painkillers, I have quite a collection now...

thanks for the link carter and the offer barwel. So I was under the assumption that handlebars are made for bikes specifically, mainly down to the fact that I came across this US site..

http://www.motospecialties.com/store...pe2=Handlebars

Their prices are not bad but I can't be bothered with buying from the states. So can I just buy any handlebar from the site carter linked to, and they should fit?

This american site was on about:

"Bars can be pre-drilled for the control housing locator holes on select models for $10
". ?!? eh!

How about tank clearance and steering lock issues with different handlebars?

aww man if only. best I got was co-codamol from my last off. This time I was fobbed off with Ibuprofen, and I even had to ask him for some.

Its awfully strange. If you come in via ambulance (even though your injuries are the same if not more minor), you can get strong meds, heck I was even offered morphine!! This time, cos I limped myself into A&E, I was given a bed in minors, so it was much different to being wheeled into resus via ambulance, and being discharged with some sweet pain meds!

most bars will fit as long as the clamp diameter is right for the bar, the holes mean nothing i dont have any in my bars and removed the pins from the control's(slot in to holes on bars) you can drill the bars to take the pins on the controls if you want says so on renthals site i think

My local shop had some stock of good priced renthals in clearance(had some on my bike...and so did some others :smt053 ), they were £15, you should easily be able to get some in the uk for £20-£25 normally priced. I think it was either barwell or hindle that replaced some and got a decent price (possibly ebay), just check the diameter and that they're not made of monkey metal and you're away. Don't worry about locator holes, either drill them yourself (awkward) or file down the locator lug and wrap a bit of insulation tape (or something) round the bar where it sits. Mine have never budged.

good idea with the tape there as mine move when the bike gets wet lol (only a bit)

mine were expensive as all the ebay ones went black at the time and i only wanted black

this sort of thing should do http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/5.../Road-Bike-Low

or you can go the full monty and get streetfighter bars or fatbars (need new clamps for fat bars)
