Re: Petrol prices
oil companies slowing down production to increase demand? your having a laugh. i make valves for the oil and gas industry. if there was a way of getting another cc of product out of the ground they would be doing it!
i can also grab the bus into work from the end of my road. the issue is it costs me more to get public transport than to insure, tax and fill my car!! |
Re: Petrol prices
I thought they had always kept a control on production to keep the price high?

The (notoriously expensive) Three Arches Texaco in Llanishen, 120.4 per litre this morning. Glad I was on the train!

Re: Petrol prices
I just paid 82 cents (about 50p!)

Re: Petrol prices
Heh. When I was back home two years ago they ran out of cars at Avis and offered me a free upgrade to an SUV... provided I promised not to complain about the added gas costs.
I just laughed, grabbed the keys, and spent two weeks lovin' the Ford Escape! |

Re: Petrol prices
Keep in mind that's prices for lower octane North American gas.
Petro Canada's offerings: Regular 87 octane, Mid-grade 89 octane, Premium 91 octane, Super premium 94 octane. Whereas in your local Total in the UK, you'll find the standard Unleaded is 95 octane and the super duper is 97! Wikipedia says that they're measured slightly differently in Europe compared to North America, but: Quote:

RON/MON/Average?

Re: Petrol prices
See for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
In a nutshell, European is RON while North American is the average of RON and MON. My parents tend to remark that they find they can't bear to drive using the 'regular' unleaded stuff in Canada any more. |
