Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
Not sure the exact name of the road (might be the MA-4016) because we basically just pointed ourselves in one direction and went to see what was there... but a road between Felantix and S'Horta in Mallorca. Felantix was a grand old city, and since this was out last day with the bike I was not in a rush, so we took a random route... and it was great, winding gently through the hills with the Med visible on the horizon, past old chapels and fields and stone bridges. It both lasted forever and ended too soon.

Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
Theres two routes that stand out for me. Theres the lakesthat takes you past ullswater. This for me is fantastic. I just look around(its not fast or scary or anything like that) but it just makes me feel thankfulfor having a bike in such beautiful scenery. Its amazing especially as the sunhits the water and your riding through the trees. Secondly there’s a B road just down from the “golf balls” near us. The roads just one long sweeping bendafter another on really good tarmac and its through lots of green fields. Happy times. Im easily pleased :D |
Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
Thailand - the Nan loop, especially Phayao to Nan on day 2 of the trip, 222km of some of the best roads in the world.
The roads are challenging in places, and sometimes they just stop and turn to gravel where they haven't finished making them, and you have to look out for cows and dogs round a blind bend. But generally it is smooth tarmac, no potholes, no manhole covers, no grannies in Fiestas, no speed cameras - and a cold beer at the end of every long day followed by a Thai foot massage - bliss! http://thaimotorcycletouring.com/ind...oop&Itemid=107 |
Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
Being a commuter my favourite roads tend to be the ones I ride most often. The A534 and A49 are on my commuting route and some back lanes in between. Thankfully due to my place of work and home both being rural I've got 4-5 different ways to go to keep myself entertained. In recent months though since the last thread like this I've taken to riding one of Mister_C's favourites as I can incorporate that into my route if I allow enough time. My usual 14 mile commute often gets extended, I think the longest detour took it up to 44 miles ;)

Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
The mountain roads around the south of Rhodes are all amazing... always seem to stick in my mind, cant remember any specifically but alot of them were near perfection.

Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
We could almost make a book of all the best roads/locations from this thread. Someone should get on that...for everybody's sake.

Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
Mr LPH was bought the 'Best Motorcycle Journeys in the World' book for his birthday last week. My Thailand trip route is in there. My trip to work via the A15, M25 and A1 in not - now there's a surprise.

Re: Best Road You're Ever Ridden?
i still look back with a smile at my memories on the wibbly wobbly road ie a83 from garelochhead to arrochar. divers with flippers on trying to run across the road, drain covers on every corner, sheep, water lying on road even in middle of summer. both wheels on sv off the ground, daughter on back squealing. along to pit stop cafe at end for square sausage roll - happy days
