Could be wrong but I think that's already happened on the newer bikes?

Undertray fiited as standard for starters.

I'd stop the svs looking like a fazer, all nuts, bolts, sub frames and any other non-ally metal parts of a metal that don't rust, calipers that don't seeze, CLOCKS THAT DONT DIE, a full fairing that dosent look like its an add on, a rear pillion seat that vibrates in the middle  and a 11'' lcd dvd player with x-box, PS2, mp3 player that pops up under the screen (pimp my ride style)

Would it really cost Suzuki much more to standardise on a single set of brakes/ forks for all their mid range bikes. I would have thought with economy of scale etc it might actually be cheaper in the long run. Gixer forks/brakes/shocks etc on all SVs , Bandits etc.

over the years the only 2 improvements that suzuki has made are preload adjusters on the fork and FI, every other so called "improvement" is really a manufactering change suzuki made to reduce costs for more profit |
Randy's right, except that Suzuki would almost certainly recieve a discount if they were buying more of a single product rather than a smaller number of a number of products- Tokico would incur economies of scale which would then, almost certainly, transmit to Suzuki. And also, there's more to economies of scale than machining and manufacturing costs- inventory is also a massive expense for manufacturing companies, and reducing the amount of parts they'd have to keep n stock would reduce those costs (since they'd only have to have working stock + reserve of one or two calipers)
The same would apply for shocks and forks- although at the moment Suzuki probably benefit from being able to play KYB and Showa against each other- "If you don't get us the product at the right price, the others can..." |
