This is getting silly - it would be impossible without leaving bubbles of course :-)

Yeah, that's better. Pop the bubbles while you wait at the lights.

Or ditch the insulating tape idea and cover it in loft insulation. Changes the colour, protects from bungee rash, keeps it cool on hot days and hot on cold ones and deters thieving scum. They'd be scratching bodyparts for weeks afterwards.

Maybe we could start a craze and submit pics of bikes covered in the most unlikely of things......

only 2 of you (thanks northwind & viney) have actually answered the original bloody question, and I need a bigger majority than that if I am going to leave it on (I really dont want to damage the paint underneath) so I am going to start a new thread with a poll and I hope you are all going to more helpful this time :smt021

Insane? Me?, never!!!!!

Warm it with a hair drier as you peel it off and watch for the lines in the paint work where the sun has got through the joins should look like light through floor boards.

I taped up the sides of me SV so the tailpack won't scuff the paint. Only where it rubs, mind.

 just saw this, that is awesome. Though I think some old fairings sprayed black may have been better.

Wouldnt it in a crash just chew up the tape and still mark the fairing anyway?

More pics required!

Good job you made of that, you're an experienced taper I can see!

As a professional user of insulation tape for many years, I would suggest you change it every 6 months or it will go brittle and become unpeeloffable. It will take any loose paintwork with it too. A solvent will make it easier to get off when the time comes.

6 wraps of tape will hold a man so you're bodywork is prob like carbon fibre now!
