Hey! Well done! You can legally shoot yourself inside the city walls of Chester! If you miss, can I have a go? :D

All valid points.

However, from the administration perspective, on a site like this, where membership is free, all you can really do about it is ask someone nicely to cease & desist.

If someone has the knowledge, it's not hard to circumvent any measures put in place to stop them posting on this site. The only measure guaranteed to work is stopping everyone.

Hmm. Does that sound appealing?

The fact is that this site is not a democracy. If the Admins decide that anybody (and that includes moderators) are a bad influence on the site, or go out of their way to annoy other users then they have the power to cease the account forthwith. Snap, it's gone, it is no more...

The chaps that run the site can do as they please (it's their ball and they can play whatever game they like with it, with their rules).

It's more of a refined dictatorship :D

.

The rules of the forum (like many others) are best used when interpreted wisely by those that enforce them. You folks have a difficult enough job.

I don't see the problem personally, I drive more traffic to threads than anyone.

The benefit here would come from useful traffic. Anything else is a waste of bandwidth. Take that as an intended snipe if you like, it wasn't intended that way at all.

It has nothing to do with volume of traffic, it's the content. The threads that you have posted in all, more or less, tend to invoke ill feeling and resentment and this is not what we wish to see on the forum. Simple.

Not knowing the history, but having seen some of your recent posts, MPaton, I wondered if you were just playing devils advocate and chucking things in that would just cause reaction/discussion.

If you're posts are your actual views, then your opinions your entitlement, but they seem to lack general understanding about others.

However, folks- perhaps the best way of dealing with such things is to just completely ignore them? What's the point in getting totally enflamed- yes, if the general topic is worth getting het up over, fine- if it's just someone's point of view then cool- just don't respond to it!!!
