Re: Helibars! More than just for comfort...
For anyone having the same issue I had i.e. the front master cylinder/hose union fouling the heli bars - you need to carefully hacksaw the master cylinder/hose union 'stop tab' from the front master cylinder. If you refer to other bikes on the heli site (I think Honda's) it tells you how to do this. It's totally safe and doesn't interfere with the master cylinder workings in any way and this allows you to carefully rotate the hose usnion (after slightly loosening the bolt) out of the way a little to allow clearance for the bars. You can then adjust the bars as you wish.
As far as I'm aware this only effects certain models of the 650s - Heli certainly wern't aware of the issue until I told them about it... This is the response I got from Heli (I guess they will have amended their fitting instructions now): "I talked with our engineer this morning. This is something we have not run into with the US version of this bike. In other Honda versions we do require that the end user cut off this tab. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Thank you for letting us know so that we can add a footnote to our installation instructions." If you look at the instructions for the CBR600 it shows you how to remove the tab in order to rotate the brake line... http://www.helibars.com/instructions/honda/TS1700.htm |
