Re: A go on an R1 - Should I?
not that I've got anything against the SV - love it, just keep finding myself hitting the rev limiter on the weekends...

Re: A go on an R1 - Should I?
I've got the best of both worlds.. Got another 2 guys that have bikes where i work, one has a K2 Gixxer 600 and the other has an 04 plate R1 :D
Before i sold my Curvy the Gixxer felt Rapid to me, few months on my 748 before i took another quick blast on it... it was not that special anymore :( Still a load of fun though. The R1 on the other hand.. up to 8K rpm it's very rideable, comfortable, easy to steer etc until you really open it up! Then its Awesom  Dont think i have laughed so much in my lid since. Think it took me about 20 mins to calm down from the adrenaline rush i got when i nailed it in 2nd gear  |
Re: A go on an R1 - Should I?
I think I need to go and test some bike and I am now thinking that a GSXR 750 might be the first thing I try.

Re: A go on an R1 - Should I?
I found the insurance on the 750 was near as damn it the same as the 600 so it makes sense.
However I knew if I got the 750 I'd still end up getting the 1000 a couple of years later and what I'd lose in depreciation on the 750 when I px/sale it would be a lot more than just paying out to insure the 1000 in the first place. Do the sums and see which works out best. The cost of actually buying the bikes was almost the same. The 1000 was £7000 and I was getting offered £6700 on UK 750's or £6500 on imports at the time. |
