WTF. I'm restricted and the light on my naked K5 starts flashing at around 105 miles. How do you get 200?!

Out of a full tank?

I've had 152 from about 13.5ltr then fuel light came on which I got to 185mile then decided to stop pushing it and fill up before I literally was pushing it to the petrol station.

.. Back on topic, I'll see how long my tyres last were next to new when I bought the bike really, I check the PSI every weekend to ensure PSI 33/36 stated in the manual (is within 1.5PSI anyway not exact)

I've set this one up because this little fuel sub topic is quite interesting and Im sure the OP would like his thread back on topic. ;)

Also bear in mind suspension - a knackered shock will kill a tyre extra quick

see i'm not a old woman i'm SMOOTH!

I thought I rode fairly smooth, although I do also ride fairly hard and I do like to give it a bit when accelerating around corners and coming off roundabouts.

Perhaps that's the answer?

The next question might be a reasonably accurate way to answer that. If you get zillions of miles (about 8-9k +) from your tyres, on a rideout which "group" do you find yourself within? And the same with those who seem to wear their tyres in about 3-5k.

When I've been out, I generally tend to find myself in the group with the more spirited riders.

That's very subjective depending on who's on the rideout, one group thinking they're 'hooning' is another group's bimble :-k

Let's lob another factor into the equation that i don't think has been mentioned yet. Weather. Surely, as water is a lubricant (as we all know) the tyres will wear less in wet weather. Additionally, we ride more carefully in the wet - slower, extra smooth, etc. Is there a marked difference in tyre life between all-weather and fair-weather riders?

I get upto 9k out of the RA, but then I do about 300 miles a week. 150 miles motorway and the rest is town work... I'm a lot less in a rush then most people in London so that probably helps.

Sigh! Not working, sold my SV1000, but still have the 650.... I did 25k over a 2 year period commuting to London from Surrey on my K3 & got on average 6000 miles out of my road attack rears & 160 miles per tank of super duper unleaded & I thrashed it nearly all the time :) Mind you, it was 75% M25/M3 work & my rear tyre always looked look like a square afterwards. BTW need to change it now & thinkin about going up to a 170 rear, the 160 looks so pitiful :laughat: anyone know if that is possible & the effects?

I doubt you'd get a 170 on the standard rim, it's already pinched enough.. fit a Bandit 12 wheel and spacers and fit a 120/70 front end so you have a 120/70 and 180/55 setup. Also means it'll have more grip but feel slower to turn and a little less responsive, more stable.

Is it really that much trouble! I'll probably stick to squaring off the 160 :)
