Re: Casey Stoner

No-one can deny that Stoner can ride a bike, but he is such a miserable little git I just can't warm to him.

So he doesn't like all the PR stuff? Tough! It's a big part of his job, he knew that when he accepted Ducati's money, and he should grin and bear it. There are hundreds of young racers who would kill for the opportunities he's had, and be charming and gracious as required.

Re: Casey Stoner

Unless he made some remarks about disliking PR, could it just be some people not liking his way of doing it ;)
He's had great opportunities but I think he made the most of them.
I'm quite happy that he's being himself, not someone who puts a different face on for the cameras. Not everyone can do PR like Rossi.

I think this answers my question.
Somehow, what some people see as annoying, doesn't bother me at all. I'm just happy that the top 4 push eachother the bikes beyond their limits and we get cracking entertainment.

he does grin and bear it.... and thats why people see him as an*l because he has too do it.. look at yourself when doing something you feel completely uncomfortable at doing do you really shine and turn into the most charming and gracious person?? i dont think so..

i really dont think it is as big part of his job has you have implied.. 45 minutes of hard racing and 5 - 10 minutes of media coverage?? :smt069

didnt realise that charming and gracious was part and parcel of being a world champion motogp rider... just becos one is doesnt mean they all have to be?? schumacher was world champion for years on the trot.. he wasnt always the most charming and gracious - win or lose

i cant change your mind about whether you dislike stoner or not but maybe see that motogp racing is just that ... motor racing - its not a personality contest. if stoner was a tit on the race track i'd say have a go at him but he isnt

No, you won't change my mind. You may not think he needs to be good at PR but I'm damned sure his sponsors expect him to be.

As for not shining at something I don't enjoy.............there are plenty of tasks I don't particularly enjoy in my job, but I am paid to do them so I give them 100% effort.

I see it from my perspective, which I believe I have a right to do and express. Stoner has done nothing but whinge and moan ever since he first arrived in the UK. He is, IMO, an ungracious, ungrateful spoiled child.

I think Casey tries quite hard at it (the pr stuff) too, when he has to, but it's easy to see he's nowhere near as enthused by it all as Captain Yellow is so we think he's dull and arrogant.

The best PR for Ducati is to be able to say their bike won the World Championship, and Casey's quite good in that respect, he seems to be quite dedicated to that aspect.
