^ By far the bestest point made so far in the whole thread :) I've learnt this point by riding in 'that there London' daily for sometime now. I low-sided about a year ago when some f**kwit company car f**kwit pulled out on me with no prior warning, I was half expecting it but wasn't prepared for it as the saying goes  Doh! Anyways, I had the full gear on, Hi-vis jacket (that's a whole other thread), main beam lights etc etc........ But I still wouldn't behave differently if I did or didn't have my indicators on, because i've learnt to ride with the mentality that these f**kwit cage drivers are trying to kill me EVERY time I go out on my bike, It's the way I was taught to ride, and I'll continue that way until the day I stop. I HAVE to be prepared for what they MIGHT do, regardless of if they've seen my indicators/dipped/main beam or heard my de-baffled CCC can. I have 12 led aftermarket indis on mine, at night they are far more visible imho, but during the day i'm not so sure, they have to be viewed at an optimal angle (due to the LED design) to be seen brightly, I may change back to bulbs soon, or add some somewhere to sit alongside the current ones. However, I still ride defensively, because that's the only ammunition you have as a biker imo. |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
Why do i have small indicators? Because i can, and they where cheaper to replace than the std ones when they got damaged.
Why do i have a race can(s)? Becauew it was cheaper to replace when i got knocked off. Its also beciase i like the sound and look of it. Anti social? Probably, so is my car, and the tossers that walk past my house at night after the pub, and the parties that go on up my road...etc etc Why do i have a small plate. Becuae it looks better than the std sail! Do i care. No not really. life is about choice. We all make them, so for the better some for the worse, but its my choice. If they wanted us to stop buying this stuff, then stop selling it! Each to thier own really at the end of the day. |

Made from Steel(Can consist of a carbon outer sleeve, but the can has to be steel. Be completely sealed with wealds, not rivits, and not take apartable at all Must not have remoeable baffles Must not be re-packable so maily filled with steel type wool Conform to noise regulations (<80db) There are many other things but thats about the size of it. These baffle cans are not legal, and in all honesty, if the police wants to be funny, could still do you and you wouldnt have a leg to stand on. Your beef will then be with the can manufacturer. |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
ohhh did not no that viney!
so does that mean that techinically all the manufaturers are not selling 100% legal exhausts, even if they state so? especially if its titanium? surley they are opening themselves up to claims under the trade descriptions act?? |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
The OE exhaust on my Kwak is titanium so it must be legal.
Don't know about the "removable" baffle thing. |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
My can has an e mark on the main part and the baffle is removeable, my insurers are happy (tbh honest they didnt seem very interested so I wrote it in a letter and sent it to them, just to cover myself!!) I questioned several bike shops on this subject and they just informed me if it has the e mark its fine. So how are we supposed to know what is right or wrong?, where is this information? :smt102

So where do you stand on black visors then? |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
police now told to use common sence and not dish out tickets for them.
I dont see them as a problem as long as its not dark!! no diferent to wearing a pair os sunclasses, and probably a lot safer in a crash! |
Re: Mini Indicators are very very stupid
No comment on mini indicators, I still use hand signals too!
However, I bought my bike with a full Hindle exhaust and after two years, I've just replaced it with an OEM system. I break the law every time I ride the bike so I wanted to attract less attention, but I have to say that I much prefer riding with the quieter exhaust, and it's much more socially responsible NOT to scare the crap out of people when you pass them. If I'd bought the bike with the OEM though, I'd probably have wanted to try a louder one too! My point is, don't get rid of the OEM, you might want to swap back! Before I get any comments about old farts etc. let me say that I don't ride like an old fart! Oldie |
