Put yourself in other persons shoes. Knowing your obstinacy, if someone had come down the wrong way in your lane you'd have run them over!

I can assess the risk to myself fine (I am a big boy now), but the only thing I hadn't considered is the potential from a driver over-reacting in surprise ... that and that alone has made me reconsider doing this in the future (well done KeithD for first pointing that out, its a good point ;)).

But at this juncture (after your comments), I'd like to point out:- I did give the dude (going the right way in the lane) right of way ... I was always going to concede as I considered him to have right of way - it was never going to be a head-on ... I saw him and began to gave way with a closing distance of prolly 100m!! ... oh and to get this into context, he was the ONLY cyclist I came up against, so its not like it was a massively busy time/place either!! ... bearing in mind I intended to concede to oncoming cyclists, it wouldn't have been worth my while going the wrong way if there were lots of other cyclists about! ;)

So that really was no 'danger' issue in itself (no oncoming traffic either) with the other oncoming cyclist.

But yes, I'll try and 'keep my head' next time I am faced with inconsiderate yoofs!! :oops:

I think the "How many times can you get hurled abuse in one ride?" game idea would have actually been less controversial and better received!

At no point in this thread have you admitted that you have done wrong except for the pavement/youth bit.

Can you really not accept that the majority of people who have deigned to answer this thread are correct by saying you are wrong and deserved it?

It seems to me that if someone disagrees with you that they are wrong.

Let's see if you can do something I don't remember ever seeing you attempt, Admit that you are wrong!

Saying "If you don't like what I say don't read it" is a bit like closing the gate after the horses have bolted.

I also agree with kiethd. Nothing sensible will be said from here on in so lock the thread. If I could, I would!

If you go the 'wrong' way along a cycle lane is there not the chance of getting knocked off by a motorist/Biker pulling out onto that road looking for vehicles approaching from the correct direction ?
