Re: What Shock To Go For?

icanopit - I was wondering if the aftermarket bottom mount can be used to extend vitually any shock to the desired lenght. I have a k8sport and despratley want to upgrad the rear shock but i want to do this without the need for adjusting the battery box etc.
Does the adjustable lower mount mean i van purchase any gsxr k8 rear shock and use the mount to bring it up to the correct height without compromising integrity of the rear suspension. Maybe YC can comment - please!!!

Re: What Shock To Go For?

The shock extension just makes the shock longer at the dogbone end. You'd still have to cut the battery box.

From the pics I have seen (from a Kwak I think) they still need chopping to fit!

Nope, ZX10R has a 90 deg. Remote reservoir, or an aftermarket shock.

i might be wrong but im sure that their are shocks which would fit without cutting the box but they are either too short or too stiff. if they are too short then surely the bottem atachment is the answer.
Im going to trail through some of the old posts to find exactly which ones dont need chopping! help!

On a pointy the ZZR14 and 06-07 ZX10R shocks simply need a small plastic part unscrewed from the toolbox/battery box to fit. Completely reversible if for some odd reason you wanted to fit the original etc. ZZR shock will probably have too high a spring rate unless you have a pie retention problem

Sadly you don't find many ZX10R shocks (of the right year) going cheap on eBay etc.
