It's fractionally tighter than the plastic suction mount that it came with. The ball is plastic and started at 18mm, I drilled & tapped it - then stuck it in the drill and polished it down to 17mm. Pain in the bum to do though and maintain a sphere.

Now got to put it on the 650 when I get chance, (after the plumbing's fixed!)

Aldi have this on offer next week

http://uk.aldi.com/special_buys/productnl_461.html

As I still haven't bought one - anyone got anything to say on this?

I couldn't believe that TomTom wanted £500 + £99 for euro maps for their Rider GPS when I enquired at the bike show. They seemed quite amazed when I laughed at that price.

There is nothing wrong with the item you are looking at - its a modified PDA running a tomtom like clone. Lots of discussions on the merits and pitfalls in the pocketgpsworld forums. However, if its primarily for bike use I'd keep clear - think of thinks like mountings, size, audio volume, power supply, fragility (sp) and having to use the pen as an input device.

I used to use a PDA running tomtom on the bike, it was velcro'd to the flat part of the nose fairing, and used a bluetooth GPS until the wind blew it all off on the A30 one day. I have found ( for the money ) the Garmin a much better product overall.

Includes a little demo.

Looks super. Expensive at £600 tho - wonder if it'll be discounted - maybe after crimbo?

I've now started doing these for naked bikes (with renthal style tubular bars) too. It doesn't use the U-bolt system that Ram-mount use, it's all in either aluminium alloy or stainless steel, and is similar in size to the one that Elmerfud has in his pics. See pic below.

Apparently, Ram-mount have said they have no plans to make an i3 mount for a motorbike in the near future.
