jelster, try and get a ride on a tiger 1050. its a cracking bike, although i,ve had an issue with oil usage (which is being sorted at the mo.) i've got to say the tiger is brilliant, 141mph with top box and panniers, averages around 48mpg at silly speed on my daily commute, finish is better than all the japanese makes, handles really well if a little twitchy at said silly speed.6000 mile service intervals as well. the only thing i've had to do is fit a touring screen as i'm 6,3" and the standard screen felt too low.
