An update here...

The front exhaust studs are OFF :-D

Only taken 2 days of persuasion, heating, cooling, oiling, shock cooling etc.

Also got the bike upside down and am cleaning up the bottom of the engine, it's going to get an acid etch and a coat of lacquer.

Oh now if you were going to turn the bike upside down why bother removing the forks? Easy way to change the fork oil that is:D

I'm wondering how much I can actually reassemble it, just for an amusing photo... "how NOT to use an abba stand..." teehee

I really do wish Im Indoors had taken a photo of it upside down ( it is only the main frame and engine lump left) in fact I'm so distraught that I might go and do it tomorrow, however it did make it easier to attack the bottom of the engine with a drill + wire brush attachment, and get those damn studs out...yippeeeeee

right this is odd stuff.barkeepers friend-asda £1.94.its a powder, you can either apply onto a wet cloth and rub( if its slightly tarnished) or turn it into a paste like substance similar to a toothpaste consistancy( trial and error). I did the paste way and let it sit on it for a while and kept rubbing it with green pads, washed it off thouroughly and then give it the autosol.

bearing in mind my pipes looked like this

after faffing with this stuff...a little messy but i'm obsessed at the moment, it starts 'bleeding' brown stains, scrub a dub dub and it goes a not so very shiny this---

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...8_02120032.jpg

wash it all off and dry it for this
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...8_02120033.jpg

then autosol to this

1 caliper down, 2 to go.

The first one was a complete t###.

I told you banging it with a hammer instead of servicing it wasn't a good idea.
