Am I getting soft
Those of you on the annual ride out. may know that I had to perform surgery on my boots in order to wear them again. Well I have now found that instead of turning into trench foot, my soggy feet are in danger of freezing into the boots and require me to defrost them in the oven.
So I have invested today, in a new pair of so called waterproof boots (Time will tell). But whilst there and shocked at my own exuberance in the fiscal department. I compounded it with a request of "Can you please show me your range of thermal waterproof winter gloves. I ask you. I must be in shock. I have two pairs of gloves(dry and drying) and some under gloves if it is particularly cold. Am I going soft. Buying a pair of dedicated "winter" gloves as well as replacing boots that have 90% of the sole remaining.? |
Re: Am I getting soft
nah yer not soft tim. I have five pairs of gloves, a very old pair of summer ones donated to me when i first started riding by my best mate. One pair of 'knuckleduster' summer ones, one without and two pairs od winter ones to swap between damp and soggy or both. And a pair of under gloves...However Chris got a set of hotgrips the other day, and I told him he was a pooooof.......I had a peek today and don't telll him.....but......I could be tempted to have some too.Talk about toasty warm

Re: Am I getting soft
I have hot-grips and a pair of Frank Thomas winter gore tex gloves. Also Heine Gerike "lobster" style mits. Not been cold in ages!
Oh, and, why do people take the wee out of hot grips? Seems like a daft idea, laughing at something that allows you to maintain control of the bike. I love riding in winter. I love sponge cake as well. |

Re: Am I getting soft
Tim, it's far too late for you to be asking if you've gone soft...
... the North/South ride confirm you are, indeed, a big grumpy faker; laughter and jokes were heard from you by us all, and many witnessed the fact you were smiling an awful lot too. ;) Oops - did I just type that out loud! |
Re: Am I getting soft
Oh man! I seem to have got the best day to go home... Its supposed to be snowing somewhere around here and i have the feeling it will be here at Fylingdales.
How do i manage to get so damn lucky... i get the good weather when i finish my shift AND my feckering left heated glove seems to have stoped working, in itself it isnt ver warm or waterproof, it relys on the heating so i think my left hand will be a block of Ice. :smt010 |
