Morrissey

After hearing him in a few interviews, most notably with Russell Brand he seems to have gone loopy. He was talking none stop about his gift, his musical prowess and made comparisons of himself to fantastic musicians. I personally don't think he's produced anything worth listening to. Am I missing something here?

Fair enough. I'm trying out the vegan thing on a part-time basis.

Getting bored of reading food packets. Discovered that my usual toast and marg from my work's canteen every morning isn't vegan because the marg has some dairy crap in it. Might have to start bringing my own marg in. Seems a bit extreme though.

The PURE stuff from sainsburys is nice, one of them isn't vegan though. I hope you're drinking only Vegan beer & wine too ;)

I bought some of that marg the other day. I made sure it was one of the vegan ones. Still using up some non-vegan stuff though, seems a waste to bin it. I even bought vegan washing-up liquid the other day

I've not been good about booze. I need to research more.

Re: Morrissey

Co-op label most of their wine now :) Sainsburys also made a little bit of effort. I find it odd that nearly every vegetarian meal has milk or egg in it.

Oh, don't buy alpro. Buy the own brand UHT soy milk. It is so so so much nicer :)

I know most of Sam Smiths beer is vegan and I think some grolsch is ok too.

I've had to pretty much stop buying processed food, which is a good thing I s'pose. But annoying when I can't be botherd to cook. Eating loads more veg and beans :D

Not been brave enough to try soy (or other vegan) "milk" yet.

Yes, IMO. I only recently converted to the Smiths but my god are they good. Can't comment on him personally, never read or seen an interview with him. As a lyricist and singer he's fantastic.

Can't think of any other band who have such an extreme dichotomy of the peppiest, upbeat, sing-a-long tunes disguising the most bleak and disturbing lyrics.

I can't get my head round the vegan point of view

A big juicy steak, dripping with blood is obviously a chunk of cow, but why worry about a trace amount of milk in some marg?

Re: Morrissey

It's principle in the same way you don't suck on monkeys testicles. After you've been vege/vegan for a while it feels natural to have a dislike.

I'm having steak tonight :)

It's a principle thing really I suppose. I am not strong-willed enough to be completely vegan so I thought I'd do my best to cut out animal products where possible as a compromise.

So why bother about a trace amount in whats a mainly synthetic product?

Surely meat would be a good place to start since thats actually what the cute furry things have to die for

In some ways I resent eating those traces of animal product in processed food more than I would eating meat. Those traces of animal product are so unneccessary and you don't even appreciate them. If I'm going to consume dairy products or eggs or whatever I'd rather I really appreciated it and had some yummy cheese or whatever.

Good song, but the lyrics make me chuckle though!

How Soon Is Now? The guitar in that stays in my head!

My favourite song they did, though, is There Is A Light That Never Goes Out...

"And if a double decker bus crashes into us..." Great lyrics! :D

I think his voice is dreadful, his lyrics simple jibberish and his attitude bizarre. I did hear one song of his the other day I liked though (i'll try to remember the name)

But I like Malmsteen, so that may take away some credibility ;)

He's not a genius, but his slightly morbid lyrics are witty and make me smile. :)

He's so far up his own...

I'll dig out a link to an interview tomorrow. He's so arrogant he's like some kind of Steve Coogan character.

Dunno about his personality. I can imagine he's a tw*t (Should I censor twit or not?... ooops) But the Gallagher brothers are idiots as well but they had some good songs.

gettin2dizzy 30-11-07 12:35 AM

Re: Morrissey

The gallaghers are idiots, Noel less so IMO but still a goon. Morrissey seems to think he is something truly special though; the type of delusional self obsession only an idiot can have. An idiot who believes that we are created by god and not intended to be equal - in the same way scientology encourages these views that music stars lap up like Rebecca Loos to a camera.

when has he ever not been loopy?

I like the dillusional berk, couldn't have put it better myself

I wasn't impressed on his Johnathon ross interview a few years ago, what an idiot

Panic is kinda good though, but apart from that
