First New Year Post

Sometimes it feels like flogging a dead horse in here! :smt064

Bike is ready to be stripped and cleaned - I am missing it too much and need to get it back on the road!

Anyone else actually still riding at the moment? Where are all the 'revolution-ers??! :-s

plowsie 04-01-08 11:22 AM

Re: First New Year Post

I am :smt026 seems like i might be one of the only ones TBH, whether it be fixing or put away for winter i think quite a few off the road.

Skip 04-01-08 11:26 AM

Re: First New Year Post

I think you may be right - my bike looked mint when I rolled it out of the shed last Spring and it looked decidedly shabby when I rolled it in last Autumn

It will rise again! (Although not while there is salt about!)

I'm still out and about, sometimes.

Might be up for a run to Spalding next weekend.

Re: First New Year Post

Just been out for an hour....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, cold but happy

Sean_C 13-01-08 06:38 PM

Re: First New Year Post

I'd still be out and about if I hadn't sent the bike off-roading. Another couple of days and I'll be riding every day again ;)

As for a ride out, yes please, I'm free 1/2 of march too ;)

Skip 13-01-08 06:51 PM

Re: First New Year Post

I could well be about on the 1/2 March - who is going to think up a route...?

Sean_C 13-01-08 07:13 PM

Re: First New Year Post

I don't know the roads too well out of cambridge area, apart from main ones which ain't fun. I have some quite well known by friends/family attempts at getting from A to B on a pre planned route and going off in completely the opposite direction at some point. (Of course I knew where I was going..!)

Cambridge is probably a bit far out of the way for it anyway, but I'll help plan a route if anyone wants.. I know the B660 is a cracking road.

petevtwin650 13-01-08 07:53 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Grafham Water as a start point?

The B660 isn't too far from there.

Re: First New Year Post

Grafham water is fine by me, I can get there without getting lost :)

Yaay, rideout :)

Skip 13-01-08 08:20 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Its a fair way for me to Grafham - but I am itching for a rideout so lets do it! Someone else can arrange the route though ;)

Sean_C 13-01-08 08:27 PM

Re: First New Year Post

whereabouts in norfolk are you?

Skip 13-01-08 08:31 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Wymondham - just outside Norwich - although I did sort out a rideout your way last year so have no problem with the distance :)

Lissa 13-01-08 08:33 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Fair comment, Skip, Grafham may be a bit far. Find somewhere closer to you, we don't mind the miles.

How about the Truck stop again?

Skip 13-01-08 08:43 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Its no problem Lissa - I know the roads out that way are worth the trip! :D

Sean_C 13-01-08 08:45 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Where's the truck stop?
Think we should firm up a date and let everyone who doesn't read EAR know?

Sid Squid 13-01-08 11:28 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Did someone mention riding motorbikes?

I like doing that I do.

plowsie 14-01-08 01:36 AM

Re: First New Year Post

Well buggwarr me, a rideout in my section, is it christmas again?

K 14-01-08 08:26 AM

Re: First New Year Post

Once we get a firm start place and date let me know and I'll sticky it up for ya.

Hey, I may even pootle along on the little fizzy thing just for a cuppa at the meet - probably take me about 3 years to get whereever it is - but hey, at least i'm actually on the road this winter! ;)

The Truck Stop is at Red Lodge not far from the Barton Mills roundabout.

So - who is going to sort the route then??!

plowsie 14-01-08 09:25 AM

Re: First New Year Post

Apparently you :-P I cant guarantee safety if we go along roads that i like...

Skip 14-01-08 09:28 AM

Re: First New Year Post

No fair! I did the last one!

I was actually thinking that a local could sort it for us - wherever it may be...

plowsie 14-01-08 09:30 AM

Re: First New Year Post

Like i say, we all gonna die, theres always the keepsafe we all know it route, the Rutland Ring? I know Pete and Lissa enjoy one of the roads.

Mike2165 14-01-08 12:29 PM

Re: First New Year Post

I wouldn't mind a rideout and getting a bit involved if it helps

petevtwin650 14-01-08 12:50 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Certainly don't think it should be Skip doing it again...........the last one was cr@p anyway ;)

Yes, 10am to 4pm

Re: First New Year Post

Sounds like you could be organising your first rideout Mike... ;)

To be honest if you wait for someone else too then it may never happen - so I just looked on a map and chose a route - tested it out one weekend and posted a date - you wont please everyone but I think my rideout went ok really.... despite what Pete may say! ;)

Mike2165 14-01-08 01:16 PM

Re: First New Year Post

But the roads that I know are crap, it's pancake territory out here! What sort of think did you do for the rideout Skip? How did you choose a route?

For those who don't know my sense of humour, Skips run was excellent. :smt045

Anyway, even if it hadn't have been, I'm grateful for somebody having the impetus to organise one.

Mike2165 14-01-08 01:26 PM

Re: First New Year Post

OK I've got no idea, I haven't been on a rideout, haven't been riding long. I don't mind doing something, but will need people to let me know the sort of thing they're after: things to avoid, things not to avoid, how many breaks, how long to ride for, how far etc.I don't mind giving it a go.

plowsie 14-01-08 01:37 PM

Re: First New Year Post

Good one to avoid, towns unless they lead to good twisty roads, holes in the road (so look for good surface, this is why Northampton is always outta the question, even though the roads i like are a lot of fun, you just need to know how to ride it), not too many borin straights, there are other bits...
