New Moderator..

As BigApe has now stepped down from moderator duties (thanks for all your time and effort BTW), we need a new mod to keep the section in check..

How does it work, do we need to find one from the regular contributors or do we need to ask an existing mod to steer the ship?

Re: New Moderator..

I would say no to an existing mod, purely as none of the others are part of our section.( Although if we had to have one then i would choose falc....despite having never met him)

As i said to the ape in PM, best solution is for him to somehow keep doing it. It has worked out well thus far and hopefully it will continue.

If not, then i guess we should cross that bridge if/when we come to it. :)

Shall we discuss this and the potential change of location of our meet at the next social. I wouldn't mind being mod, but if it takes up too much time then I probably wouldn't be the best choice.

Also I think we need someone with a firm hand and years of wisdom to steer this ship and moderate us properly...I nominate Ape (doh) ](*,)!

We could all be moderators of the TV section... an important Social experiment to investigate the viability and validity of democracy in modern society.

No?

How about a free for all on the grass at the front of the pub. Last man (or woman) still breathing gets to be moderator :?:. You'll have to canvas for new members though as all the current ones will be dead.

Trouble is I reckon that you would win. Then we would just be back where we started.

Hey if you can't even make the meet which is literally a stones throw from your own doorstep, any other location isn't going to make much difference now is it.

Personally, I vote for no change.

Cheeky chimp.

Great stuff... does that also mean you can still be moderator for us??

Me to.

We did however always say that on the week that there is no meet we could add in an imprompu visit to a different location.

No John, you said, we just didn't argue.

To be honest I don't think the meetings that we have now are well enough attended to warrant alternative meets in the blank week to be started. I think this would just dilute the regular meet further and if attendance becomes thin people will not bother to attend. It's starting to pick up now, so let's leave it as is for the time being. Just my thoughts of course.

Just to clarify - I definately wasn't suggesting that we regularly have alternate week meets. But if ASM wants to organise a one off at a different place it would be better if it were on the alternate week to our regular meet else nobody will attend the main one!

The GM seems to be the section closest to our high standards. :p

Good question. I thought that the mod had to sign up to attend as many of the regular meets as possible. If we were to get an existing mod then I find it highly unlikely that they would do this.

Personally I think that the mod should be someone who is a regular attendee of the TV meets so that they can help guide the group and ensure that new members are welcomed. They should also have some appreciation for the personality of the group and its individual members. Thats my pennys worth.

Enough of this chit chat. The ape should stop being a grumpy bender and become a mod again!

I am not sure that any of us could keep you under control in the same way that the ape does.

What's with all this "we haven't got a moderator" stuff, anyway? Did they demote you for your involvement in Operation Ore or something?
