Another "Ive had an off" thread!! :-(

Well i suppose it was only a matter of time till the inevitable happened... ironically i wasnt speeding!

Going round a right hand corner, doing around 35-40mph, saw some fresh/wet mud on the road, tried to avoid but clipped a bank front wheel went, threw me over a bank, rolled me several times and i ended up in a ditch:(

Bike was still on the road sideways blocking the whole lane... luckily there werent many cars on that road that day!

Got up straight away, ran over to the bike, and managed to lift it(what a heavy ******* thing it is too!) and get it slightly outta the way of any cars coming.

So damage, gear selector is bent, left front indicator, left lower fairing knackered, top part of fairing cracked and scuffs all on the left side! :-(

Bike wouldnt start then for like 15 mins, and as i was in the Forest of Dean, there was no mobile signal! so once i got the bike started, i managed to get home. Took an hour! not fun!:(

http://images34.fotki.com/v1121/phot...2008600-vi.jpg

http://images31.fotki.com/v1086/phot...2008602-vi.jpg

Back is aching like hell but im ok touch wood!

Next bit is the cost:thumbdown:

Now is a decent time for me to change the indicators for some mini's i guess. but will also need a new gear selector, and probably the left hand side lower, unless i can get it plastic welded and repaired?!

If i do need a new lower, can u buy them individually or does it have to be as a set?!

How much is that lot gonna set me back?

Hoping some of the grazes/scratches will polish out back hurting a bit at the mo, plus its dark now.

So all in all, GUTTED! but i guess coulda been a lot worse!:(

Whoops bad luck.I bet you did the damage to your back lifting the bike rather than crashing it.Ebay is the place to get used parts.

Phew, young fella me lad.

Let's hope that was your 1 accident eh.

Sad to see a nice bike looking so second hand but nowt money can't fix, and you seem fine.

Gear lever easy to change providing you've got the right tools.

Mark it up to experience, and try and think what you might have done to avoid the incident.

Gutted, no consolation but there could could have been more damage to you and the bike. My old SV had a decent plastic weld job done on the front before I bough it although the fairing will probably be worth replacing depending if the mud is hiding more scuffs.

reminds me a bit when I got hit by a car last year and had to ride my bike back home with half a lever.

Call that an off;)

You will have to try harder next time. Nothing a bit of flashing the plastic can't fix.

Oh mate, look at this way ur not badly hurt apart being a little sore so thats the main, the damage to your bike doesn't look too bad either, at least it can all be fixed!

I really hope not see another thread like so soon, take care everyone.

gutted for you, glad you are ok, and the bike wont cost that much to repair, or shouldent anyhow. I am sure you can only buy the fairings from suzuki as a pair though!

Sorry to hear you had an off too mate. I was the one from yesterday, bloody expensive to repair these bikes. Least you walked away also.

GWS Mate, hope back is ok and you don't have any injuries your not sure of.

Not to add a downer to things, but are your forks visibly alright? Might be worth having them checked.

I looked through bikemart in MCN and called a service that searches a couple of hundred breakers around the country, got a centre fairing that way. Got a brand new left fairing panel off a suzuki spares place.. but ebay is definitely your friend- you should be able to find what you want there, if not, it will probably be there soon.

Sorry to hear about your off but glad you're not too bad ;)

I would nip to a hospital mate if I were you. There can be some internal injuries that will show on a scan or X-ray. Just to be safe rather than sorry.

Hope you will be back on the road soon!

Sorry to hear this, I can empathise having smashed my K5 a few weeks ago.

I've pm'd you about a fairing lower panel I have spare. I might also have a very cheap top cowl.

Ollie - absolutely gutted for you mate. Completely can't believe I'm reading this after our little bimble on Sunday. What an absolute killer..

Hope your ok tho' - you sound like nothing to serious damaged to yourself. Bikes are fixable !

As I got the same bike as you I'll dig out the details and find out the colour code etc etc..

Dude.. gutted. Seriously :(

Good advice from Dave as injuries can be missed... get yourself checked out and here's hoping that you and the bike are fixed up soon... ;)

Btw, I wouldn't bother replacing the whole gear change assembly - www.fixer-peg.co.uk can do you a new toe-peg for about 6 quid. I fitted one to my broken brake pedal and it looks as good as factory.

Sorry for your trouble, and + 1 to fixer-peg. Good stuff. Get an emergency one while you're at it.

Cheers for all the replies guys & gals :)

Especially Lozzo for the PM an fixer peg thingy!! much appreciated!

Welsh Wizard - i know it is gutting, especially as we were talking about all the offs posted on here all the time! Just be afraid if u see me near your bike with a toolbox as a certain left side lower might go missing! :D

Oopsy.

OK cant see if anybody has answered you Q's

You have to buy lowers as a pair. You could always ebay the half you dont need or keep it for a spare !!

Paint Code - should be on the pink sticker on the front inside cover of your service manual.

I've got a fixer peg, havent had to use it, but seems much better than your other option of drilling the peg and putting a bolt in it. Seems a tidy piece of kit.

Re: Another "Ive had an off" thread!! :-(

The fixer peg looks better than stock!

Ollie, echoing the other advice, it might be cheaper to buy a set of lowers from Suzy rather than hunt for a 2nd hand one and get it sprayed up as a good job might be pretty expensive. I would both the set and then sell your decent one (and scuffed up but cleaned up) one on the 'bay, that way you offset some of the cost. There will always be some poor soul looking for a right panel and possibly may want to repair your left side one too.

Out of interest, did u keep this as a permanent option or as a temp measure as said on the website?

The 'get you home peg' is a different product, the one I bought is what they call a replacement toe-peg, there's a link further down the main page to them. I will be using this one as a permanent thing because I'm too pikey to buy a new brake pedal at 47 quid when I can spend 6 quid and have a better looking brake pedal and a chunky key-ring pendant for my car key

sorry to hear about your off matey :( could have been worse tho, the exhaust side is alot more expensive ain't it shellywoozle :( anyhow its done now, wash off the mud and survey the damage, bikes fix easy but we take alot longer! glad your ok.

Ollie if you're in no rush, why dont you just remove the fairing lowers for the time being and look around to find a deal? After all, Svs are naturally bikini faired so yours wont look out of place anyway!

Yeah could have been worse, was only talking to someone a few weeks ago who crashed around the same speed, and landed on his back like me, and ended up with a broken back!!

I think without my back protector, i might have been royally ****ed!:(
