Iggy Bikers
 Is it just me, or is the nod of the head or a wave dying out ?
I have noticed over the past few weeks that there has been a bit of ignorance and no acknowledgements going on..........:(, I know the cruiser / harley boys are a law to themselves:smt037........................or may be i need to change my deodorant...lol:rant: |
Re: Iggy Bikers
Some nod....some don't.
Personally i have given up nodding first, for the most part. Too many anti-social gits won't nod back. If someone nods then i'm usually happy to reciprocate. Having said that sometimes i'm just not in the mood. :) |

Re: Iggy Bikers
i got a lot of nods today and also a few waved. Also a few waved their leg - which I found rather strange. friendly bunch up here

Re: Iggy Bikers
maybe coz i am relatively new to the biking thing, i always nod, but i can see how it must get a bit tired after years of it.
i have noticed some folk dont return the gesture, but that could be down to traffic ahead, how busy the road is, etc |

IMO its not whether they nod back or not. You had the cursity to nod in the first place and its only the arrogant sods who dont nod back who need a lesson in socialiasm. I dont give a monkeys if a biker nods back or not. Its the fact that i keep the aprreciatiation of the other bikers going by giving them a nod in the first place. :D |
Re: Iggy Bikers
If I'm enjoying myself I'll wave otherwise just nod, but was out yesterday and everybody responded. Even the cruiser boys.
+1 to Blueto's post. |

I *always* nod/wave etc, and when i don't get a response (unless it's like last weekend and the end of the Dragon Rally around here) then I laugh at the sad gits. They're either busy planning, in which case fair play, or they're just too stuck up to bother. It bares no reflection on me if someone I don't know ignores me. I remember Blue posting a thread about imaginary situations being funny, this is one of them for me. :D |
Re: Iggy Bikers
I always seem to get a nod, even from the scooter boys. Have also perfected the both-thumbs-on-side-of-helmet-wiggling-fingers salute to amuse small children in the back of cars.

Re: Iggy Bikers
+1 I nod when i want & don't always check for a reply, the reply is not important. Just think where we would be if nobody did anything until someone else did it first.

Re: Iggy Bikers
Ill always nod, that is if im not skidding up the road on my head..
But no sometimes youre just a little to focused to even notice another biker nod at you. Ive got this habit anyway being a bus driver we always wave at each other.. hell ive even found myself nodding at buses while on my bike hahaha! oh god..:smt005 |
Re: Iggy Bikers
I nod when I remember to, which isn't often enough! There were a lot of weekend riders where I used to live, who thought they were the dog's ******** and rode along in a world of their own, ignoring every other biker on the road. Every single one of them used to wear one-piece leathers, ride a race replica and never nodded.
Now I live in London where no-one nods at all! |
Re: Iggy Bikers
To be honest I never really noticed the nod/wave dying out. Maybe we're just all more sociable up here in the north east ;)

Re: Iggy Bikers
reference this nodding/ waving.... i mostly do it second but if i have a good tune on my mp3 then i do it first....i never wave due to the fact that last year a female motorcyclist was killed on the brighton run.... some ppl say she was waving to other ppl and went into the back of another vehicle.

Re: Iggy Bikers
I always nod, singles or groups, I always do, one of the bits I love about riding a bike. On the borders ride out on the weekend I got about a 70% response (at a guess) and was happy with that :-)

Re: Iggy Bikers
I tend to nod most of the time- generally first, but if I'm concentrating on my situation, then I may not, or if I'm in a bad mood, then perhaps I might not. I am a fairly moody/sulky type, and proud of it!
I have formed the opinion that there's no point judging someone who doesn't nod back- they could have many reasons and when you can't even see their facial expression under a bike lid, it's best not to form opinions that could well be wrong. Frinstance, I may nod a lot (my poor neck!), but unless I know someone, I rarely chat when I park up at Rykers or Newlands etc. Others may do it the other way round... |

Re: Iggy Bikers
I nod all the time, some guys on choppers or cruisers don't nod back. I like nodding at chavs on mopeds because they look really shocked, or like i've made a pass at them. Good stuff.

Re: Iggy Bikers
What do you do if you pass a group of 20+ bikers?

I sometimes nod when sat in my car and I have had a few nods back. |
Re: Iggy Bikers
I nod to the first one and last one. Chances are the rest will have seen it.

Re: Iggy Bikers
I always nod outside the M25. Even to scoots and Harley riders (who are far and away the worst for not nodding back though, in spite of what others here may claim). I've had a scooter rider stop and help me when I flatted my battery and I know bikers who ride scooters, so I can't not consider them bikers too.
|
Re: Iggy Bikers
I wave to everyone. Very rarely don't get an acknowledgement, even from cruiser riders and police riders.
If I don't then no biggie. Just because you're on a bike it doesn't mean you're not just a miserable git anyway:D |
Re: Iggy Bikers
I nod to anyone, sometimes even pushbikers, I acknowledge generous car drivers etc too. With bikers if they blaitantly look at ya and dont nod/wave I just think oh well.

Re: Iggy Bikers
Everyone's friendly down here, even the commuters nod. It's a raretly that people don't nob or wave back down here and many of them are harley/cruiser types or the local biker gang (the Aquila).
