Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct in the damp

Part of today's Pennine Massive Rideout, no one else on this 1st Vid as I was towards the back, but check the moody lighting of the surrounding hills.

5 mins I'm afraid, but I hope the music helps....

Just a helmet cam that plugs into my camcorder, I think off www.helmet cam or something. Bought it a couple of years ago and finally using it.

To Hawes it was nice and dry. From Ribble head and the rest of the way the weather was fine. Tim just recorded the wet bit... that was ALL the wet bit. Rest was clear as a wistle. :D

It was not that bad i second that. Even so i used my waterproof gear a lot :-)

Tim in Belgium 02-03-08 11:25 AM

Re: Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct in the damp

It was fine, I didn't use waterproofs at all and stayed completely dry.

Yes, but didn't get any footage because of the digital recorder being a bugger.

I put the waterproofs on at Hawes and had them off again at Settle. Did get a little bit wet but was dry by Settle. To be honest from Tims footage it does like it was a terrible day but that was just the bit he took. The rest of it was pretty decent weather!

Re: Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct in the damp

It was a 480 PAL type one from RF concepts http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/helmet_cameras.htm

The AV in then goes into my camcorder. Looks better before it gets compressed for you tube too.

yorkie_chris 04-03-08 03:34 PM

Re: Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct in the damp

If you plan to try it out check carefully that your camcorder has video input, mostly all have AV out, not many can use this as an input too.

Re: Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct in the damp

I've just got a setup similar to this and have taken some test videos yesterday and today.

The guy I got them from currently only sells on ebay, but has offered a 10% discount to .org members. This works out at £149.50 for a full setup (all you need to get is a SD Memory card).

The kit comes with a camera, batery pack and a recorder which also doubles as a half decent digi camera.

I've got about 3 hours recording out of 1 charge of the unit and 1 2GB SD memory card.

Why do you want to record to tape? Does it not have DV out to record to PC?

jon8oy 08-03-08 05:00 PM

Re: Hawes - Ribblehead Viaduct in the damp

I meant the camera records to tape yes DV out to the PC but i know some that record to SD card making it easier, anyhow managed to sort out software and firewire lead so now done a quick run out today to see if it all works gonna edit and see if i can post it, mind it will only be a short clip if i do manage it :)
