Bathstore Bog Blocked - My Diet ????
 

Is that right that my new £200 bog is blocked everytime I use it cos I have a bad diet?
The last one worked ok and I was eating the same c**p.

I just fitted a bathstore bog and have noticed that its a lot different in flush and water levels compared to a traditional bog. Theres no ballcock and no over flow, its automatic. The level of water in the pan and time of flushing is shorter....must be somat to do with being economic..

Yes I got one upstairs and downstairs and they are both the same. We are gonna rip out the upstairs one and fit a cheapo white one from a local shop. That way I will know for sure.

is it flushing a lot of water in it, to force it all down the u bend? or just a bit of a trickle

Its a dual flush and loads of water is flying down there.
A bucket sorts it well though.
Im not impressed. They look nice and all but the function is not great. Shame. The rest of the bathroom is nice and fitted well and works great.

that really sounds poor, mine is fine, just a little economic compared to old, still my water pressure is like the niagra falls!! There'll be a real plumber around here somewhere if you hang around long enough.

you got kids that may have put rubber ducky down there?

I have good pressure and no stuff in there that didnt ought to be. Shame I just have to take it out and try another one.

Funny that, my new bog is a lot more picky about what will go down it as well. Must be that there a little smaller round the u-bend maybe??

I paid that for my whole suite and no it's not a cheapy one from B&Q!!!!!!!!!!!

As for it not flushing properly, if chucking some water down it clears it then i would say the water level in the cistern is set too low. There is normally a line inside the cistern that shows where the water level should be

Depending on how old your old one was there shouldn't be a huge difference in flush volumes. The really old ones had a 9litre flush, then most were changed to 7.5litre flushes (which is the most you're meant to fit now) but you'll find the newer dual flushes have 3/6litre flushes. The maximum permitted volume of flushing water is set in accordance to the water regs.
The level in the pan is governed by what building regs say. So there is a minimum trap

JUst another thought, being a dual flush it will have a drop valve in it. Have you tried pressing and holding the flush button?

I miss my old outside one from my childhood, There was about a 3 gallon lead lined box for a cistern about 5 ft above my head. Pull the chain and Niagra falls in there.

No reluctant remnants left with that one. and a great improvement on the old thunderbox that was originally there
