Parking advice please

Hullo peeps!

I'm thinking of blagging attendance at a half day demo of some HP kit in London next week.

Following a successful and enjoyable venture into London on the SV for the first time late last year I'd like to do this trip in the same fashion.

My question is can anyone either recommend any bike parking near here (EC2V 7QT - Wood street pretty much in the middle of Moorgate, Barbican & St Paul's tube stations) Google map linky...
http://www.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=...,0.057077&z=15
or alternatively give me some advice on what sort of time I should aim to get to the area if I'm to successfully find somewhere to park up.

I do remember my instruction from last year to park rear tyre to curb and accidentally kick as many scooters as possible whenever an opportunity presents itself.

TIA peeps

PS Hope to make it down to Frith St. again soon :-)

I park in the bay at the bottom of Moor Lane - which is just north of London Wall.

Usually plenty of room there.

Give it a go :)

Cool - what time should I aim to be there for?

(Did I see something about you being SVless now? or was that the wrong end of a different stick?)

Yep no SV (at the moment - still waiting for the insurance to sort stuff out)

Just park next to the coolest bike in the bay - any time before 9 is perfect to get a space.

PS the coolest bike in the bay looks like this

Thankyou. Before 9 sounds pretty reasonable as the 'thing' starts at 9:30.

It is indeed very cool - I know one Northamptoner who'll go a little green (with envy) when he sees it.

What happened to the SV? The word "insurance" doesn't sound good :-( (I didn't see anything about that)

Id recommend the London Wall car park. Its undergound, and if you go right to the other end, there is plenty of room. I ride through it everyday as the entrance to my companies car park is a tthe other end. Its free (I believe) far better than a bike bay. Entrance is tricky though. If coming form mooregate, you have to ride down london wall, round the roundabout at the end and come back on yourself, then take the 1st left you come to. it spirals round to the left, throught the barrier and bobs your uncle.

Ok I'll see if I can work out where that is. I'm keen to add to my knowledge of parking places so I can find more excuses to visit the smog on the SV - especially on Fridays :-)

If you don't mind being cheeky, go park in the hospital (Barts). As you go through the main entrance into the square, go left and there's a bay marked out for bikes. They never check if you're staff or a student so you can get away with it.

I appreciate the thought but that's really not my style.

Yup that link looks spot on (and I now understand London Wall is the name of a road) and I get the point about going round the roundabout.

I'm going to try cheating and stick a SavNav in the tank bag. But I'm still going to leave plenty of time and have good old fashioned route instructions and maps printed out and with me.

Thanks again, all of you.

Don't rely on sat nav in London!! It lies all the time and never gets the one way systems right! Trust me, I know!!

Update: Well I got lost. It was probably always going to happen. I can't even blame loosing my road numbers at 90 on the M1. Signing of road numbers in London leaves a lot to be desired from an out-of-towner point of view and I missed my turn for the A1200 (and pretty much knew it). Anyway with the assistance of a very helpful Taxi driver I got there in the end.

London Wall Car Park - Excellent. Followed the advice to go to the end yep loads of space even after 9. Great to get sorted in the dry too. I'll be using that again if I can blag another trip to HP.

Ah, don't knock them. I've found the large majority of cabbies to be very helpful when I've asked for directions.

One even got me to follow him for a little way in the direction I needed to go. He didn't even do an unannounced u-turn in front of me, or anything!

So what you are basically saying is that in a lid and riding gear you look a bit like a girl?

Well no real argument from me :P
