Have some Patience !!!!

Patience!

Based on my commute home this Evening from the Oval though South East London and beyond it seems that many bikers have had their patience gene removed. I will agree that the traffic was bad this evening due made worse by the rain but people just need to chill a bit. If you wait even at little as 10 seconds a better gap and you will make up the time.

I saw a scooter rider shout at a car driver because “he” wouldn’t move forward and enter a yellow box that wasn’t clear in order to let the scooter rider get passed. There was a bike that all most rammed me from behind because I stopped overtaking a line off traffic as it was no longer safe, the other biker overtook me and went round the blind bend in to oncoming traffic.

But best of all the W***k*r award tonight is presented to the scooter rider on a 07 plate vespa type thing that tried to filter up the inside of a line of traffic and then tried to cut out to the outside and almost ran in to the towbar coming out of the back of a AA truck that was towing at the time. I don’t know what gave it away maybe the flashing orange lights on that van or the hazard lights on the car he was towing !!!!! ](*,)

So to sum up, Biker’s have some patience and we will all get home nicely and still faster than a car.

Soap box returned to the cupboard ready for the next user!

Bluepete your Aerosmith Signature is effing hilarious!

[/derail] I totally agree, I am very concious of being a courteous filterer now, and trying not to annoy car drivers.

Since I've done the bikesafe class bit, I've taken a much more "i'll get there when I get there" attitude to filtering, and have a much safer, relaxed journey home and it probably only takes a minute or two longer.
Here here!

My thread was the other way last week lol

Sounds like quite a lot of nutters about, personally those new vespa things annoy me... loads of city boy types seem to be riding them with open face lids, suits and despatch bags... tossers.

Ch00, i complety agree. I see some people rushing off at a zillion mph between lines of traffic. Only to get held up at the traffic lights.

Slow little me then catches back up to them :D

Take your time and dont do anything dangerous; just do what it takes to get home safely. If that means waiting in traffic, then just wait

I have, in the past, filtered very agressively.

These days, I don't have to commute long distances, and I quickly descovered the benefits of a relaxed ride.

You get to focus less intensely, ride smoother, and generally be more relaxed. I often find that doing this, I'm actually far quicker than I was when I was pushing things.

Just like last night actually on the way to Stormy & back.

at the moment he's just a wanabe biker... :smt044

i dont see scooter bikers as bikers just kids playing / not puting down kids either.
...am i biased...

err there may be good scooter riders out there somewhere, but the ones i have seen are a danger to them self's and every one around them.
doh.. like cutting across you with out any indercators or warning or even a shoulder check !!!

Well I was taught to hang back a bit, let everyone else sort themselves out, get into trouable cars, bikes ect, then go for it. As it allows a bit planning to take place....you don't get caught up in the chaos.

My ride to work isn't far, so i filter but always make good progress. Besides most people around here can't drive, so I tend to careful to save me from the nutters on the road!

Besides arrriving a bit late is better than DOA.

Only ever seen one good scooter rider - and he was the victim of a not so recent SMISYBCBATW (Sorry Mate I Saw You But Couldnt Be Ar$ed To Wait), our own, resident Scooter-chav (ex), Rictus.

Definitely not 99%(don't ask me how I arrived at that figure :p) of the ones I come across everyday ;)

ETS: Yeah, I do give all bikes a lot(read ample) of space....most scooter riders just get that little bit extra

I’m being totally biased here, because the scooters riders I have come across are …….Enthusiastically tackling traffic filtering on the verge of being dangerous …..Apologies to all sensible scooter riders out there…….

I have to agree with you tho Tonyk based on my Central London experience, the only thing worse than cyclists on Londons roads are Scooters.

It seems that the saleman told them it would be quicker and they wouldnt get caught up in jams, and they believed it and that belief means that they must live up to that

Re: Have some Patience !!!!

Okay, lets put it another way.

If I saw a police driver making a 'school boy' error, I'd be more anoyed by that compared to Joe public. I see plenty of bikers with a full license who make me cringe.....from where I'm standing, the difference isn't as much as proper bikers sometimes claim.

In a lot of cases, of bikers having a go at scooter riders, it's a case of the blind leading the blind ;).

I'd bet good money that if I watched a lot of scooter haters, I'd be able to point out stuff, they are completely oblivious to but to me, couldn't be more obvious. ;)

Anyhoos, I generally don't trust any vehicles/driver on the road. The standard of observation/speed of processing what they see, of most drivers/bikers just do not match up to mine......saves me waiting for their brain to catch up with stuff that I had already seen and processed 5 mins ago.

Oh come on folks. Its only the 99% of the scooter riders, that give the rest a bad name.
