Anglesey

Anyone done track day/race there?

If so, what did you think?

Re: Anglesey

There was talk about it a few months ago in the Border Patrol section mate. I think it has only recently been refurbed also. From what I have heard, a very good track to go out on.

I was thinking of doing anglessey sometime this summer. It's a bit of a trek so would involve camping/b&b the night before. If there is enough interest we should vote on some dates or whatnot or I might tag along with the gixerjunkies lot.

Re: Anglesey

I'm going there for the weekend of July 12/13th for a trackday. I'll only be on track on the Sunday, probably in inters or fast, depending on how quick the fast group is. I'm meeting up there with an old old mate of mine who now lives near Bangor, and it'll be his first time on an organised trackday, so that'll be a laugh. He's only been on track a couple of times at bike launches cos he works for a Suzuki dealer.

I've been there before but not ridden the circuit, but it looks highly impressive and feedback from those who were there is that it's awesome to ride. It certainly looked it from the viewpoints I got to. That corkscrew coming down the hill towards the start/finish is something I definitely want to experience.

It was my son's introduction to track days & he still rates it as his best circuit to race on.
There is talk about having BSB there soon, but they have got to sort out hotels, access etc.

They also need to spend a lot on the infrastructure of the track itself. I believe there aren't even any pit garages yet.

The road into the circuit is a joke, you'd never get a BSB transporter down there without causing major traffic chaos - also, the pit garages are under construction at the top of the hill, and didn't look too far from being finished when I was there 2 months ago

I was about to say, at cadwell most of the paddock are in a field. Doesn't matter though, just done my first race there and it was without a doubt the best thing I have even done on a bike.

Like it should be its more about the track itself.

IIRC saturday 16th of august (GP track) and some are doing the friday aswell the 15th (coastal). Sounds like there will be a BBQ too, If I go I'll be camping in the paddock the night before.

Re: Anglesey

I race here regularly, the track is fantastic.

Facilities are scarce compared to big tracks like Oulton but its early days, we are starting to see national races there already so I dont think it'll be too long before it attracts something like BSB. Thats not always a good thing though as racing and track day costs tend to go up as a result.

Try it out, you wont be sorry you did.

Does anyone know where the track layouts can be viewed for the coastal and international layouts?

There are also a couple of good videos on Youtube that will give you an idea of the layout.

This one; go see Paul the big English guy. Tell him Lorenzo Bottishafti sent you with the message "Well knit you a hat for xmas" , he'll know what you mean.

The international GP and Coastal circuit look bloody fantastic.

Miles for me though, looks to be worth the travel though.

Thinking about a later summer trip out that way at some stage, which circuit is most fun on an SV? Anyone taken theirs there?

Zombie Jesus 21-07-08 07:06 PM

Re: Anglesey

probably the coastal because It has a series of left/right turns instead of two straights connected by a hairpin
