Had a letter from the cops
 

Got a letter come through ... it said on the back 'Fratton Police Station'

My heart skipped a beat (expecting it to mean I had picked up another/new motoring offence)!!! :pale: ... I opened it to only find it was where my application had been successful and it was an invite to an for an interview for a job I had applied for there ...

~7 weeks since I applied ... 7 weeks!! ... :rolleyes: ... they can poke their interview/job!! :smt016

You know, I knew somehow, in some way, it'd be your fault!!! :D

I guess they spend too long/too much manpower sorting out the football yobs and others of the plethora of Portsmooof lowlifes to spend time with job applications!! ;)

Not only were they very slack in processing the application, but they just happened to select a day that I already had another interview arranged for ...

That said, the people that I had that interview set with had/have taken ~4-5 weeks to get back to me to invite me for that interview ... so I am going to tell them to poke it too!! :smt023 :D

To be fair, I think that experience would probably spread a fair bit wider than just Fratton ... :D

A mate/colleague of mine actually got beaten up in Fratton once ... in broad daylight ... by two teenage GIRLS ... they set on him coz he wasn't wearing a Pompy t-shirt ... no, not coz he was wearing an opposing teams t-shirt (he was just in a normal every day type top, no football connection at all) ... so just coz he wasn't in a pompy t-shirt ...

I am sorry, but is that 'rough' or what?!!? :shock:

I friggin hate football and this whole Pompy-FC BS and that is a perfect example of why!!!!!! :rolleyes:

I applied for a job in the MOD last October, I'm still awaiting a date for my interview!

7 weeks isnt a long time. You want to apply for a job in a council. Verna applied about 8 weeks ago, and only got an email yesterday saying that they are still short listing!

So quit ya whinging and just set the date for another time... some people dont have that luxury. ;)

I waited 20 months to get a job with the police, 7 weeks would have been a breeze.

It only took my ex 12 weeks to get into the RAF, from first applying to going through all the selection and starting training.

Today I went out on my bike (don't normally do that, but hadn't ridden it for a while) basically with a full tank of fuel, I just road out 'norf' ... tried to get lost round all the back roads/lanes ... I forget sometimes how nice Hampshire is when you escape the over-populated cesspit that is below the M27!! 8)

I've been thinking about buying a new 1098, but after today, I really don't see the point!

Oh and don't feel bad about the police lot ... I have turned down several jobs/interviews now!! :D

I got off at Fratton once...

Anyway, the company I'm working for now took 6 months to reply to my initial enquiry/CV, and that was just to say they had no vacancies! Mind you, they really did keep my details on file, I thought that was just an expression.

And let me guess ... you took one look at Pompy, did an instant U-Turn, got the feck back on the train (rapidly) and out of there - back home as soon as possible?!!? :D

Took me 18 months to get into Staffs, 6 months after I sent my application form off I got a letter back saying I had passed the papersift, I'd forgotten I'd applied.

Not a speedy process the Police, thousands applying for one job.

I have to say it's a good career, good pension and they have looked after me wonderfully since my off. Best career move I made and worth the 18 month wait.

I had to fill in pages and pages of application forms ... with all sorts of stuff/guff ... they have now invited me for an interview based on that and want me to fill in more forms ...

Talk about red-tape ... that's not a good sign of things to come is it ;)

besides ... I can't work for the rozzers; poacher turned gamekeeper or what! :lol:

I thought of applying to the Bill once.Just to see if their supercomputer could remember who I was and tell me to £&ck off.;)
I dont have a criminal record but I do have a past which led me to be "of interest" to the authorities.I often wonder if that "interest" is still logged somewhere.:reaper:

Long time ago and more political than criminal,and more to do with where I lived and who with.But it is the reason I am so opposed to the surveillance state we are now in,and why I am so paranoid and cynical about those in power.
