rasing the sv

i have an 07 sv650s that was dropped when i bought it. i've had it for a yr and am comfy riding it now than when i bought it. i have the original links and want to put those back on since the ones i have cant be adjusted any further (so the stealorship says.) putting the original links doesnt look too complicated (or is it?) but my main problem will be raising the front forks. i dont even know how to go about it so any help will be appreciated.thanks.

Re: rasing the sv

ryt so the rear of the bike/the dog bones have been changed 2 lower the bike? or the front forks have been popped up threw the yokes 2 lower the bike???

if its just the dog bones then just below the riders foot rests thers a part of the frame whice is very flat and level and car axle stands go in really nice pop one either side and thats perfect for doing work like that and shock changes etc...

;)

thanks.from what the dealorship told me, the ones on the bike now are not adjustable so i'll be taking those off and putting back the original links.

Re: rasing the sv

aye you cant get adjustable ones anyway on less someone has done a home made jobby or something by like drilling extra holes in them if ya no whta i mean.

it should be pretty easy 2 just swap them over but ya will need 2 adjust the chain a bit thats about it really.

;)

Re: rasing the sv

no adjusting the chain is another pretty easy job loosen the rear wheel then use the 2 we chain adjuster either side of the swing arm 2 either tighten or loosen the chain.just make sure when you have the dog bones changed etc...you dont tighten the chain 2 much or not enough.

Get the weight off of the front forks and undo the clamps and lower the forks through the yokes again until the fork top is flush with the top yoke (the fork top, not the fork cap. See the pic below for example.).

Also note you should not drop the forks on the SV650 more than 10mm for the road and never lower the forks beyond standard without stiffer springs, this includes when lowering the entire bike!!!

Same goes for the rear really, get the weight off the shock and undo the bolts and swap over the linkage bars. You'll need a torque wrench by the way!

I would advise you return both front and rear to standard to begin with!

'SV650K4' - The bike has been lowered front and rear, i.e. longer linkage rods on the rear and the forks dropped through the yokes at the front.

They have to be lowered in the first place to raise them.

The previous pic was of raised (OEM) forks, the pic below is lowered/dropped forks which is when they pretude more from the top yoke!

Re: rasing the sv

The common ways,

1. Suspend the bike from a rafter using straps under the headstock.
2. Front paddock stand which raises the bike from under the steering stem.
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/resour...THEADSTAND.jpg
3. Get a jack under the engine with the bike on its side stand and raise the front up by putting the bikes weight through the rear wheel and sidestand (make sense?)

10mm max for the road, and thats with sorted forks too (not OEM springs and oil rate). You shouldn't drop the forks too much further anyway as you will have clearence issues with the wheel and radiator!
