Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.
..... are blatantly fake right?
Loads sold, mainly positive feedback. Whats going on? |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Linkage?
edit: 1000 posts of absolute nonsense. Sarcastic "Bra-vo", and slow clap. |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I've seen those as well.
There are a lot of companies over China way that will buy one set/pair of originals and then copy them. I had someone email me (SPAM, don't know where they got my email address from, damn it!) offering Alpinestars boots (the same as the ones I've owned for just over a year and cost me £200), for only £55!!!! I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole! There's definately something iffy going on when they're that cheap....they're either cheap copies or original faulty etc.... either way I can't imagine them holding up if you have an off! I'm suprised ebay hasn't caught on to them yet, as it was in the news the other week about fakes on ebay. |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Extremely fake I dont know how they get away with it.
I keep see japan/china sellers selling screens for 99p but it now etc as well, something isnt right. |

Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I'd say not fake just not any good. You know, not as go as GP Pros, like my HG gloves which I have had for almost a year and the only sign of wear is when I came off.

Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
The only way you could produce £18 leather gloves would be to have 200 5 year olds hand sewing them in a chinese sweat shop.
SP1-s are normally £89, now I know we get robbed in the UK but £18 for genuine A-star gloves, they cant possibly be real. Order some plowsie, and if they are real I will buy them off you for £40 lol |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I'd be tempted to get the and see how good they are, ?36 (with postage) for a pair of gloves still isn't bad even if they are copies and are decent build quality.

Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Quality spelling, quality feedback, quality product:rolleyes:
|
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
But gloves are basially gloves. They are all made from leather, and it copied will probably be double stiched etc, so why wouldnt they be as good as the real, darnsite more expensive item? Maybe the alpinetarts gloves are just over priced!
If i had the cash id get and try a pair. I mean, i have spent lots on bike stuff, and you dont always get what you pay for. |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
If someone wants to buy my J&S vouchers off me when I get them for my bday I will order some :)
EDIT: But first I will be getting these ;) http://www.mcleathers.co.uk/item3181.htm |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Get seven pairs of gloves at the BMF for that price.Far too dear.
Rip off China eh? |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I bought some "Hybrid" 2 piece leathers off ebay. The write up said they were pre production models of an expensive new American range of leathers that were going to come over here.
I paid ?75 for them brand new with tags. When I got them it had another name on the tag & "Made in the Phillipines" on them. Googled them & found they were Phillipino stuff, but the quality is spot on. CE body armour all over the place, double stitched all the way round, so I reckon I got a bargain. Whether these gloves will be the same, I don't know, but, you never know. The Chinese people get paid about a penny a month, so they could be pretty good |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I got some GP pro's from someone in the uk for £40 posted new. He was selling quite a few pairs. I was unsure until they arrived, and I'm fairly certain they are genuine, if they're not then they're such a good copy that I dont care.
The leather is soft as you like! You wont believe what its actually costs to make things like that in places like China; the money that is made on £120 gloves is huge. It all goes on sponsorship and marketing, not into the actual product. Also have a gander at the Sidi Rainsports they've got listed. They're £150 RRP over here! If they are genuine then what a bargain! |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Soft leather isnt always a good sign.
There was a chinese company not long back dealing with a uk sales/distribution, they were selling Leather for what appeared to be very cheap Genuine branded leather items. Someone looked into it more (Possibly MCN) and bought a set, further investigations showed that the 'soft leather' that the Leathers were made from was infact Faux Leather which would rip to bits as soon as it made contact with the tarmac. So be warned...... |

Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Think I may try some of these, my RST ones......the velcro has stopped sticking and the stitching is rubbish......can't be any worse I guess?!?!?!?
|
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Well i'm going to have a punt on them. I've currently got 3 pairs of gloves and hate them all so for that sort of cash am willing to give them a try to find something that actually works for me.

Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Save your money and go to Hein Gericke.
For ?38 quid you will be able to get a decent quality glove, you will also be able to see them in the flesh/try on before buying. ***In a crash whats one of the first things to touch the floor??? - HANDS!!!!!*** You know it makes sense.:-) |

Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I have the HG ones, they are really good :) Well worth the money I paid.
|
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I bought HG gloves which promptly fell apart, literally after 5 rides!!! Didn't keep my reciept and the arrogant tosser in the shop wouldn't take them back accusing me of buying them from a show (they were just out at the time )
End result - i won't be spending any money in their shop again. |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
I used to know a uy that could get you anything you wanted, in any quantities and in any colour. If he didn't have it available he'd buy one and copy it.
Thing is, these used to cost him 12p for a t-shirt, would cost my mate £3-5 and he could sell em for £20 plus, if he fancied robbing someone he'd sell it for £50!!! These t-shirts would fall to bits in 3 washes max!!! (they don't compy the stitching as it costs too much and the materials are the cheapest they can get that LOOK legit!!! |

Anyone ever buy any of these???
|
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Searched ebay and found countless new sellers though. Know they are fake, but if they are decent-ish leather with decent enough stitching then thought it may be worth a punt.
|
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Ive got some.
gd plus gloves , have withstood one crash and long slide very well and still work just a good. i cant fault them for the money.... and if there cheap enough there not a waste if they dont last that long. just make sure you get the right size by trying on in a shop first ! |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Westminster City Council Trading Standards put out a warning a while back about counterfeit motorcycle clothing.

they could be real, gloves probably cost alpinestars no more than 10 to make since they mass produce them, so this could be real enough |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
They're fake mate, no way they'd sell them that cheap on eBay.co.uk if they weren't.
The real test comes when someone crash tests them. Dunno bout you but I use my hands every day and if they were damaged I'd have an incredibly hard time and would probably loose my job so I think I'll buy reputable makes from reputable places. Regards Phil |

they may be fake .... or just defects as there is a tiny bit of odd stitching on the beggiining bit of the glove ( not the most life saving bit of the glove me thinks ) and crash test BEEN THERE ! held up fine abit scuffed as where my clothes but really good nout wrong with em. although the guy i bought em off closed his acount the next day due to "legal issues" still got the gloves through and get an email every few weeks informing me of his new site. |
Re: Cheap Alpinestars gloves from China on ebay.....
Congrats on getting the good pair from the bad fakes then!
Still don't think it's worth the risk as they don't have quality control, believe me, I used to shift a fair few bits of counterfiet goods in me youf! Seems you got lucky (just read glove reviews in the bike mags, even good gloves from reputable names can have difficulty standing up to the test) and I don't fancy willingly putting any part of my safety in lucks hands!! I'll but out now and let others have their say. Regards Phil |
