Alphadot - Standard on All Suzukis?

Heya All

Just been looking at www.alpha-dot.co.uk.

If you click on Partners and then Suzuki, it states that all new Suzukis come with it installed. Is this correct and how long has this been the case?????

Cheers Drew

Re: Alphadot - Standard on All Suzuki's?????

The wife's bike (K5) has got an Alphadot sticker on the tank, but we got no other documentation when we bought it S/H (most likely lost by previous owner).

Anyone know how I can confirm if it's fitted and get the reference etc.?

yeah you need to go to www.alphadot.it and click on the registration link then you can check against your reg no to see if it does have alpha dot,if not you can pick a kit up on ebay for a tenner....sweeet!

It was listed in the brochure when I bought my 56 reg bike, but the dealer said they had stopped doing it. :(

I had heard they stopped doing it in the last few years - no idea why. Seems to be around 05/06 from replies on here...

When I bought my K6 I enquired about this very thing.

The dealer I bought mine from said they had stopped doing it too. Apparently it was something done by the dealer at PDI, and they reckon that for the time it takes, there wasn't enough demand for it.

More likely that they could try & sell it as an add-on for a premium price.

However, my comments are specifically aimed at the dealership I purchased from (and have rarely been back to) - I'd love to hear from some of the members of the .org who work in or indeed own a Suzuki dealership. :)

It sounds odd that it would solely be down to the dealer - from the sounds of it they all stopped doing it around the same time. Curiouser and curiouser...

Re: Alphadot - Standard on All Suzuki's?????

Right, official response from Suzuki. They stopped doing this approximately three years ago. Some bikes after that may still have it, due to some dealers taking longer etc to stop it.

They have informed me they will be sending the query to their partners team so that Alphadot can remove it from the website.

My K6 therefore defo doesn't have it. We are still awaiting confirmation as to whether Lily's bike (K5, being purchased on Sunday) has it or not. The lady we are buying it from was told it did, but there is no paperwork with her documents etc & it is not registered on Alphadots site, so highly unlikely. (Then again, she did say it had a built in alarm......but that hasn't been done either by the looks of things. lol)

My K4 was alphadot'd as standard. I never paid for it and it seemed to be standard on all suzukis at the time.

As was my K5. Sounds like it stopped in general for 2006 model year to me.

FYI - I tried phoning AlphaDot today to try and blag a kit for a tenner (seeing as my K8 didn't come with them - I know they've stopped doing the partnering thing, but you've got to try haven't you?), however the office is closed until 1pm on Friday :(

PS - What do you think is a reasonable amount to knock off for not having an alarm. Price on Ebay is 2700, with 650 miles on the clock. Am happy with or without the alarm / Alpha (As have a garage). Just not sure what is a cheeky amount to ask off?

I'd ask for the cost of fitting one as a reduction, irrespective of whether you actually bother with one. £200-£250 ish I'd say as an opening bid.

muffles 16-07-08 03:56 PM

Re: Alphadot - Standard on All Suzuki's?????

I'd maybe even push that up to £300, if you wanted a cat1 alarm fitted without trying to get it as part of a deal on buying a bike, etc, you'd be looking at circa £300. Obviously other types of alarms would be cheaper, and fitting yourself is different, but the rate seems to be around £300 I think.

Aha, found it! My wife's K5 (05 plate) is registered apparently. In case anyone else has tried, it only recognised the bike reg if I didn't put any spaces in it when entering the reg no. in the box (i.e. AB05XYZ, not AB05 XYZ).

I guess I'll have to phone up to see how I go about changing the address details. It's a pretty poor website for after sales service!

Yep i'd ask for at least £200 off, think mine was about £250 so i'd ask for £300 and settle on £200. :p

Hmm, Alphadot....
Mine has it, but it is registered to the previous owner. Tried to contact them, but office closed. No e-mail contact.

In truth I learned more about it in this thread than from official sources, so thank you again .Orgers, you are consistently wonderful.

Re: Alphadot - Standard on All Suzukis?

When I looked at changing the registration details for the Alphadot on my second hand K3 SV650s end of 2006, I couldn't get in touch with Alpha Dot at all.
I ended up ringing Suzuki GB directly to try and get some contact details and was told that they were unable to confirm the 'status' of Alphadot.
I suspect that they may have been having financial difficulties or something.
I think Suzuki had also stopped putting Alphadot on new bikes at that time as well.

I then found their website again last year and was able to phone up and arrange for the transfer of my details for a ?15 charge.

FYI - spoke to Alpha Dot on Friday and they confirmed that Suzuki stopped paying stealers to fit as standard with new bikes. Said I could buy a kit from them (I think she said £25) or buy a kit for a tenner off eBay then ring up and register.

I asked about the eBay thing, seems they have a little sideline selling through there as well.

Kits start at £7 thru to £10 not sure that there's any difference though, they all look the same.

Wouldn't be so sure, look above, if it's selling for < £10 on Ebay think how much the dealers can get it for.

Also I've bought 2 new Suzukis from different dealers in the past year or so, neither had Alphadot.

Having said that, my K3 SV *did* and I don't think it was added by any of the owners.

My alphadot kit arrive this morning!

£8 delivered - gotta be worth it for the insurance kick-back alone!?

The tube of little magnetic spermoza will be applied as soon as I clean the bike at the w/e.

This is correct, Alpha Dot has not been fitted/applied to Suzuki's as standard for the last two years now. Doesn't mean it has not been fitted it just means that Suzuki themselves don't include it in the price, many dealers still do offer Alpha Dot for free or the equivalent Datatag.
