Utter bolloxs really......

I filled up this morning at sainsburys....no difference.

The thing that boils my **** the most is that they are making out they are DOING US A FAVOUR.........they fail to mention completely that the price of oil has dropped $25 in the past week.

So all they are really doing is stopping their profiteering.

custard 22-07-08 08:47 AM

Re: petrol price wars

think sainsburys only do it if you spend over £50...

Nah that's completely wrong. Forecourt sales of fuel only net a couple of pence profit per litre - hardly profiteering.

If you're anoyed about fuel prices then the government is to blame, noone else - they take 80% of the money you pay on fuel.

I'm interested to know why Tesco haven't done the same... though as I don't use them for fuel since they started demanding I take my lid off before filling :(

I was happy (happier) to fill up at Morrissons this morning with a 4p/l drop in price though, and, to top it off, got my 5quid off voucher for saving up all those 'Morrissons miles' :)

Watch the Morrissons fuel though, I've had some problems with the bike being a bit 'rough' round the edges after using it.

I paid 117.9p this morning at a normally expensive pertol station, last week I paid 119.9 in a Tesco Express. Not much but at least its going the right way!

Hmm, been using the same morrissons for a year or so now and haven't noticed anything odd. It could be that I was so used to the crap coming out of the tesco pumps that I didn't notice and its just 'been fine' to me ;)

The price of oil is still dropping at a decent rate.

http://www.bloomberg.com/energy/

On another note, doing the maths.

Saudi Arabia produces 10million barrels of oil a day......at $130 a barrel

Thats a cool $1.3billion a day being made......insane amounts of money.

It was a fact relevant to the topic. Funnily enough the cost of oil and fuel are related. Its much more relevant than your patronising bullsh1t question that you always seem to have to come out with

Dunno about you guys, but as well as my beloved SV I have to drive the car for work - I get petrol expenses, but have to lay out the money up front, so I got an Adsa credit card which lays out the money up front for me AND, I get 2p a litre off petrol bought from Asda petrol stations! Worth doing if you use quite a bit like me..

I don't mean it was meaningless in the context of the thread, I mean the figure its self was meaningless. Saying $1.3bn is insane amounts of money, insane amounts of money for who? For one person yes, for one country no.

It's like saying that the lower castes of India have 'insane amounts of money' because they've got £2bn between them, ignoring the fact that there's a billion of the poor blighters so they've only got £2 each.

$1.3bn a day from a 365 day a year production is insane to me, as a single source of income even for a country...I'm Sure the Sultan of Brunie doesnt think so though as alot of it goes to him and his family.

I am happy the prices are slowly dropping but I dont like the fact that the supermarkets initially offered better prices if you spend £50+ in store excluding filling up! I also think the prices are not dropping as quick as they went up - we will see.

Asda is 113p without spending in store.
