Oh I see... I guess RSV's are also barge type bikes?

Have you ever seen a Falco?

My bike is similar to an RSV with the same measurments but supporting a different frame and swing arm I.E. They look different but do things exactly the same (Plus shocker which is crap, will be changed) everything else is the same (engine, though mine has 2 into 2, brakes forks electronics et etc.). Guess thats crap. :smt118

I have been to the edge of my tire so I know what its like. :smt065

One other thing, ive pushed it a little too far and had to pick it up as I felt the back tire falling off the edge. That was brown trouser time. just enjoy the corners imo.

Well its not an RSVR if it has a different frame is it... if it was an RSVR it would be EXACTLY the same and called an RSVR and not called a FALCO wouldnt it...

Not being funny or owt, but you need to take a chill pill I'm pretty sure you were having your leg pulled.. and not before time either I should add ;):D

Aye I said at the front of the post if it was a joke... It's just there were no ha ha, he he, or :) :p  in his post so it felt to me "what do you know!?".

No the frame isnt the "same frame" but like I said its got the same dimensions etc. So its practically the same. I think they wanted the Falco to look nicer in its semi naked state and the RSV frame is a munter once its got its cloths off.

Anyway. Guess none of it matters. Sorry.

I reckon that you don't really like the falco, and you're just trying to justify the fact that you spent too much money on a TL-wannabe that you don't really like...

Why I aut to!!! :p Im very happy with it. :D I think the TL to Suzuki is a Falco wanna be... It isnt as dangerous and faster/easier to ride.

I felt slighted thats why I bit. It didnt sound like G was having a laugh, read a little like a Adult talking to a child saying "your opinion doesnt count". :(

Anyways whatever, I know what my bike can do.

More about how much power you're putting down that absolute lean angle, blueSV650 has a cool photo of his tyre after a race, there's still a tiny chicken strip despite the tyre being well cooked.

Aye but the SV's tyre is MEGA pinched... Saying that the 600's tyres are also pinched with their little 5.5" rims and 180 section tyres. :(

Cart how far off the edge are you on the front?

As already mentioned, no they are completely different and have the same similarites between a TL1000S and an SV650S. Technically it is not the same engine, different cylinders and hugely different internals (I have seen thsi with my own eyes). Different frames, the RSV's is far superior, and suspension let alone characteristics.

No offence to you 'TheGr33k', I agree that the Falco is an excellent bike for the road but fast road riding is its down fall as it is well known and documented to not offer much feed back to the rider. It handles well but it is vague, compare it to a bike like the Firestorm, RSV, 999, 04 onwards Fireblades and R1's etc and you will notice.

I'm pretty much on the edge front and rear on one side, yet I hang my toes off the edge of the peg so that my toe will touch down way before the peg, yet it never has.

I'm beginning to think I would loose the front or back way before the pegs touch down.

The Engine is the same as the 2000-2001 small valve RSV engine. 02 they changed some of the internals but not greatly Just bigger intake valves. 04-06 the engine went to single spark plug per cylinder and 07+ they went for 33mm Exhaust valves and they made it rev more through making the drive train more hardy and adding titanium bits for more strength and less weight. The Bore and stroke is the same accross the whole range as is compression (though the 04+ may have more). The Falco was given twin Exhausts to give it more mid range which causes the top to go down by a couple of BHP... but who wants peaky power on a twin?

Read towards the bottom of this. http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=2585

The Forks are the same USD Showa as the RSV 00-03. Like I said the dimensions of the frame is the same, the swinging arm while looking different places the rear wheel in the exact same place hence the easy swap to an RSV swinger. The Brakes are the same. The only place the Falco was let down was its poor choice fo rear shock. The wheels are the same brembo units as fitted to all RSV's (except R's 00-03/factory 04-06) upto 06.

As for vagueness yes standard they are a little, front can push wide when on the power though this mostly due to the rear shock and terrable settings on the suspension out of the factory. Play with settings lower the forks through the clamps (so there is about 25mm showind at the top) and reduce rebound dampening it feels more solid then ever. I can easily accelerate through an entire corner hard without it feeling out of place or squirming at all. Once I get a good rear shock I expect it will be Unreal if the increase in feel from the rear is as good as people say.

There are a lot of people track these bikes (after new rear shock and Oz wheels) and they prefer them to the RSV's.

Cheers for reading... Sorry this thread is so de-railed.

Now that i know is manufacturer BS, a single can will boost the mid range not a twin can set up. Now that is a racing/tuning proven fact with V-twins!!!

Their are more differences than what you said, many of the engine internals are different (proof - different part numbers) and as for the forks yes they are the same but only on the outside. I have helped run an RSV race bike and a Falco engine was bought for spare parts by mistake.

I'm not hear to slag off the Falco, I think and know it is an excellent bike for real road riding, i'm just trying to state the facts, pass on my knowledge/experiences and not let people get misguided as to what is what. There is already to much BS coming from the motorcycle manufacturers, dealers and press now a days to the point that it is getting as bad as the cars!
